MARRY MY HUSBAND (JAPAN): THIS IS TAKERU SATOH’S WORLD AND WE’RE JUST LIVING IN IT

As a fan of the original Korean version of Marry My Husband, my expectations were already sky-high for the Japanese adaptation - but, as millions have said before me: HOLY FUCK, THIS IS PERFECT.

All condensed into a mere 10 episodes, and it didn’t lose its soul. %30 of the kudos go to the production team, and the rest? Straight to the STELLAR cast.

Koshiba Fuka is flawless as Kanbe Misa, bringing out both the frailty and the endless strength of her character. Shiraishi Sei is phenomenal as the unhinged, deranged, evil Reina - you’ve got to love to hate her. Yokoyama Yu is the epitome of a sleazy, vile ex that makes you scream, “WHAT in the ever-loving fuck did Misa even see in Tomoya?!”

And then… there is… this guy.

Jesus fucking Christ, what is EVEN happening here?

Takeru Satoh is magnificent. Magnetic. Tantalizing in a way that’s just plain illegal. He demands your attention and oh god, am I happy to give it to him. Gladly. Wholeheartedly.

Just look at that kiss scene. I just- ugh.

The way his head and body move before his eyes.

The way he kisses her like he’s starved, like he’s waited lifetimes.

I’m not breathing. I’m gone. Dead. Totally ready for my own Director to save me, love me, yearn for me. One that looks like Takeru Satoh. Or just… Takeru Satoh.

My Best of 2025, Asian Drama Edition

This is based on shows I watched (and finished) in 2025 not necessarily shows that came out in 2025.

Best Drama - Justice in the Dark 🇨🇳

Absolutely incredible from start to finish. A show that’s smarter than you and knows it. So many twists, a genuinely insane plot that kept me gripped week after week. I kowtow to Japan for allowing the rest of the show to be released and to the fan subbers who allowed me to watch it.

Also led to me to do the most insane thing I’ve ever done for fandom - writing out the entire timeline of this show 💀

I can’t wait to get my hands on Silent Reading.

Top Ship - Yuanyi (Fangs of Fortune) 🇨🇳

You can’t just drop this ship on me and expect me not to lose my shit over it. The angst, the chemistry, BINGYI AND YINGLONG. Obsessed. Zhao Yuanzhou and Zhuo Yichen’s story is amazing from start to finish and I am always going through the A03 tag to find fics for them.

Best Soundtrack - Fangs of Fortune 🇨🇳

Every song on this soundtrack slaps. Some highlights; ‘Return After a Long Dream’, ‘Half of Me’, ‘Little Verses’, ‘Distant Memories’, ‘Great Wilderness Chant’, ‘Heaven and Earth Are Unrivalled’, ‘Plants Do Not Grieve’ & ‘Spring Does Not Ask’.

Best Side Couple: Qing Geng & Fei (Fangs of Fortune) 🇨🇳

Shocker, there are actually some Het pairings I like. These two were so valid. They’re tragic and their story was amazing. They were happy, they were in love and then it was taken from them.

Best ML Character - Pei Su (Justice in the Dark) 🇨🇳

Pei Su is a young man with a complex past and a genius level intellect. He was a fascinating character to watch and to see him slowly warm up to Luo Weizhao was amazing.

Listen, I like the kdrama version of this story but I LOVE Misa Kanbe. She has a great relationship with Suzuki and her way of finding her happy ending is very entertaining.

Best Villain - The Janitors & The Sunshine Fund (Justice in the Dark) 🇨🇳

Impossible to choose between the two villainous groups of the show because of the tangled web of their activities. Both were equally challenging for the main characters to face. The absolutely insane interconnections of characters and having to spot where members of each group appeared in the mysteries was such a fun tangle to unravel in the show. Seriously, if you haven’t seen Justice in the Dark you’re missing out.

Best 1 Episode Character - E’Shou (Fangs of Fortune) 🇨🇳

You can’t create a character this cool and then only have her in one episode can you? Apparently you can. I weep for the Yuri storyline we never got. E’Shou is a deceptive beast who only speaks through lies. Reading between the lines of her words reveals the truth. She would have been such a cool member of the team but alas.
