Reunion: The Sound of Providence Live Blog [Episodes 14-15]
Danmei Diaries, I notice you haven’t said anything about the mute girl and Xiazi - shhhhhhh i do not see. Okay, fine I’ll share my thoughts. It’s becoming unavoidable now.
I’m having above the level of irritation as I had for Liu Sang butting into Pingxie because I have to deal with the fact that because it’s het it’s probably going to keep being pushed and might become canon. At least Liu Sang was mostly played for laughs. On a trying to be objective front aka ‘if I’d watched this before I saw Ultimate Note and the Heihua movie’ I still think I would have found this pairing bland. Though im honestly not sure how objective I can be in this particular case. I did google Ya Nu and discovered she’s a show original character and therefore I do wonder what book readers and/or people who came into this show first think about it. Since I know she’s a show original, it doesn’t help my feeling about the pairing being bland.
But I’m pretty sure people must have shipped Book Heihua before the shows started airing since I’ve heard ‘The Flowery Night’ focuses on them and that was published in the middle of Ultimate Note airing and there must have been something in the other books because Ultimate Note really hits you in the face and is like:
And that can’t have come from nowhere.
Sometimes I don’t mind added connections in adaptations, for example, I like the developed relationship between Jiang Cheng and Wen Qing in The Untamed which is completely show original. But both those characters existed in the book unlike Ya Nu so I spend my time looking at her like “whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy”.
I appreciate how much Hei Xiazi is turning her down but the framing is still kinda feeling like “he’ll come around!”
Yes, I read Heihua as having much more of a situationship than dating for a long stretch of their relationship but my message for whoever added her to the plot still stands:
Rant Paragraph over. Moving on.
Enough with the eye insects please that’s genuinely really fucking disturbing. So, I don’t know whether to count the emperor’s artifact as an evil space rock or not 😭 idk if it’s actually a meteor yet.
Okay show, I get that you want to split Pingxie up but why the HELL WOULD ZHANG QILING GO ALONG WITH THIS PLAN?? I can’t see why Zhang Qiling would go along with the decision to drug and leave Wu Xie behind at all considering the whole point of this mission is the Iron Triangle finding Wu Sanxing and Second Uncle is a DICK. Not to mention that Boss Jiao is still an ongoing threat and you’re just gonna leave them drugged while he could come back???
And he came back. What did I just say.
Well, he’s definitely going to worry about Wu Xie when he finds out about this. Whose brilliant plan was this?
Okay I do appreciate that Liu Sang has got with the program that if you want to get Zhang Qiling to like you then you protect his husband at all costs. We’ll see if I fully warm up to him by the end of this arc.
Wu Erbai you’re a moron and this was a bad plan. Now Wu Xie’s in trouble and he has no full control of his limbs.
Yeah this was an amazing plan and now Wu Xie’s has been double sedated I’m sure that won’t have any adverse side effects.
Somehow that flew??? I suppose because it was a joke and definitely not romantic?? I guess the commenters who said this Wang Pangzi’s actor got away with A LOT weren’t kidding
A’Ning’s alive??!! PARDON? WHAT?! Although I guess we’re back to a version of her I wouldn’t mind getting murdered again. Dang it. I liked Ultimate Note version of her. This one feels like a regression.
I really appreciate that Wu Xie has clearly become a badass in his own right now that he’s older but I do worry that my “Wu Xie being a better person than me” bingo square is no longer going to be relevant to DMBJ 😭
