For the trailer

How to install the mod:

-Right click on Last Defense Academy in Steam and select properties(Currently no switch port though we're working on it)

-Click browse Local Files

-Open Game Data

-Drop the two patch files inside

-Go to Day 10 of S.F and enjoy!

Do I need to play any other routes?:

The S.F route Day 10 must be unlocked, though the requirements usually needed to advance on S.F have been disabled. However, this mod attempts to use the pre-existing lore in LDA and tell a new story, and other routes will be spoiled. It's encouraged to have played all of the S.F-connected routes (Zombie, Slasher, Killing Game, BOC, SF) and Second Scenario to avoid any and all spoilers.

Things to note once you've beaten Version 1.0:

Trying to go back to any day besides Day 10 of SF will cause issues, sometimes it's fixed just by manually moving to the correct spot, other times it may softlock. Day 14 of both branches has been coded to loop, so once you've beaten that branch, save after the loop so you can continue playing once Version 2.0 drops!

Known bugs:

For brand new characters to appear in a room, we had to assign their sprites to pre-existing characters. While we fixed and coded everything so their sprites should spawn, it still sometimes loads the default sprite for the original character briefly. So if you briefly see Nozomi for example before it switches to Karua, that's why.

The Battle on the "Return to the Original Academy" branch is bugged in terms of Enemy spawn and the Northern Out of bounds. Still completely playable, but because we took a battle that intially only had two sides and expanded it to four, it's bugged the map and we're still working on fixing it.

While we fixed all the typos we found, some may have leaked through.

During free time, if Karua has a special interaction(Like talking about the food she eats in the cafeteria) the sprite that spawns will be Nozomi's original sprite for that scene. It will change to Karua's sprite if you actually intiate the scene however.

Nozomi's name will stay Karua even on vanilla routes, simply remove the mod(Right click the game, properties, verify game files) to fix it.

Not really a bug, but getting hallway scenes to work crashed the game, so temporary hallway scenes have been moved to the Metal Shop.

When will Version 2.0 be released?:

The good news is all the hard stuff is done, we've reversed engineered a ton of stuff and the main hurdle for future versions will be fixing any problems in the battles. However, 2.0 will be much larger and it will take a while to write. We're aiming for a Christmas release, but hopefully sooner!

What will Version 2.0 have:

-The rest of Day 14-Day 30 of both branches.

-New music

-New Sprites

-New Characters

-Maybe, possible voice acting? Just small grunts for any possible new characters.

-Karua free time fully written and changed.

“i asked you not to do this and you did it anyways…” nozomi sighed, as she carefully patched up your battle wounds. you flinched and squirmed occasionally, but you tried to remain a straight face, as not to worry nozomi even more.

“i–” you bit down onto your lip, trying not to yelp in pain. “i can't help it… you were in danger and i couldn't just stand there and do nothing.”

“you mean way too much to me.” nozomi reminded you. “i know you just want to help, but you can't go out there and sacrifice yourself for me. i don't know what i would do if i lost you…”

I did not colour it, cause I was a bit lazy, but it's the standard academy uniform's colours, unlike Nozomi's.

I didn't want to design a weapon for Karua, cause I don't understand her enough, so I just gave her Undyne's energy spear.

Hi I came to confirm you that the girl in the black outfit that had her throat slashed in the Hundred Line extreme x despair trailer is indeed Takumi’s friend. A promotional sprite shows they have the same beauty mark.

The same beauty mark? 🤔

Oh, true! Indeed, Karua (Takumi's friend's name was revealed to be "カルア" in the special program that was released on YouTube the other day, but the exact spelling is still unknown) has a mole under her left eye.

So...

Hmmm...

Hmm, I couldn't find a high quality image of her sprite, so I'm not 100% sure, but in the trailer it definitely looks like she has a mole. (If you know where I can see high quality sprites, please let me know!)

But even if I'm not sure about the beauty mark, I can see that there are definitely some elements that Karua and this girl have in common. The black hair band worn as a hair ornament looks quite similar, although Karua has only one black rose and the girl in the black jacket has two. Also, although the jackets they are wearing seem to be of different designs, the black ribbons around their necks look the same.

Even if these two people are not exactly the same person, they are definitely related. (Based on the tendency of the stories Kodaka thinks about, I think there is a possibility that these two girls are twins, clones, or something like that.)
