Dragon Age Questions: 4,5,6,41,51! <3
4. First Warden? So much long time. For the life of me I can’t remember her name, because I’ve had so many since. She was a Dalish elf rogue, though. Rather serious. Didn’t really joke around, mostly because her sense of humor didn’t quite match everyone else. My canon play through, Mara Cousland, is a relatively good natured rogue who usually tries to see the best in people and humored her mother who tried to turn her into a lady. She figured out asking forgiveness later was much easier than having a knock down drag out with her mother, so she earned the reputation as a bit of a troublemaker…most people simply took her minor transgressions in stride. “20 silvers Mara shows up to the banquet simply to put her feet on the table and sharpen her knives” type thing.
5. First Hawke? Brynna Hawke was another duel wielding rogue (I’m afraid I’m a little predictable). She was the epitome of Purple Hawke. Sarcastic, joking, loyal to a fault, but also with a bit of a temper, especially after Carver dies. My canon Hawke, Alanna, is built along the same lines, but a Mage. She hides her insecurities and fears under a joking manner.
6. First Inquisitor? I only got to Skyhold with my first Inquisitor, because I wasn’t quite feeling the choices I made, so I’ll tell you about my second (with whom I haven’t finished the game yet but shhh I’m working on that. The game came out and then life happened). Aïna Levellan is a Mage, easily lost in thought and tends to breeze through conversations and accidentally ignore people, at first meeting seeming rude, but she simply has a lot on her mind. When she’s engaged, she’s truly engaged, and she really means the best. She eventually wins most people after a few conversations, it’s just getting her to slow down and talk to you that’s the challenge. When stressed, her dry sarcasm tends to get the better of her.
41. Who did you romance first for each of the games? DA: O, Zevran (canon Alistair)DA: 2, AndersDA:I, Cullen (I don’t have a type shut up you don’t know me)
51. My very favorite head canon that also makes my heart hurt requires some pre-framing. Alanna was modeled in looks, character, and class after one of my very favorite fantasy heroines, Alanna the Lioness (if you haven’t read any Tamora Pierce books, DO IT.) long before this I caused myself much pain by realizing that Mumford and Sons “Little Lion Man” was a Handers theme song. Pre-Frame complete.
Anders’ pet name (started out teasing when they weren’t together, then became and endearment when they were), is Little Lion. He called her it one night when she started getting riled up (she called it a “spirited discussion”) about the possible applications of different magic types. Her hair had poofed out because she was gesturing wildly and running her hands through it. He thought the resemblance was uncanny. She did not approve. In retaliation she conjured an ice cube under his collar. Just one. As he was thrashing around she sauntered back to the bar to get another drink and reminded him it could have been a blizzard.
I can’t listen to that song without rolling on the floor clutching my chest. Excuse me while I go cry in a corner.
