And the longing from Cooper? Perfection.

The Love Haters by Katherine Center

I adored The Love Haters - it was so positive and happy and George Bailey has been added to my list of favorite fictional dogs.

Katie was relatable, Hutch was ideal. Rue and the gals were excellent. There’s personal growth, learning to appreciate and love yourself, and some intense slow burn and longing.

There’s heaviness and loss in here as well - including body dysmorphia and disordered eating, as well as a mostly off-page drunk driving car accident resulting in multiple fatalities (please be mindful of those for your own well-being).

I read this in under 24 hours and loved so many of the messages in this story. A definite recommendation from me!

My Review

You know that feeling when you read something so profound that you look inward and something about the experience is life-changing. Well this story definitely was a catalyst on a new perspective for me!

I felt like I fell into this story and became a part of it! I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I felt like I was merging into these characters and experiencing their emotions, loving their passions, hoping for their dreams, and yearning for their desires.

This is Hutch and Katie’s journey and it brought All the feels! These two were magical when they were together! Their intensity, the longing, the excitement, the palpable anticipation of what would happen next between them! It all had me swooning and squirming in my seat.

“My wish for you,” Rue went on, “is a vibrant, bright, glorious life. That’s why I keep bringing you these vibrant, bright, glorious swimsuits.” “So am I your pet project or something?”

And then there were the secondary characters who added so much to this story. Between Katie’s best friend, “Beanie”, and her pushing Katie out of her comfort zone as well as Rue and her lady friends adding vibrancy and laugh-out-loud moments that helped bring these two together. But my favorite was Hutch’s dog George Bailey!

The Love Haters was a book that helped me change my perspective of how I looked at myself, and how I looked at other people in my life. Reiterating to me, to always look for the best in each other and ourselves!!!

I was fortunate enough to receive an ALC of this on top of the eARC I had. I had a bad bout of stomach issues and wasn’t able to get into the book and Patti Murin brought Katherine Center’s book and characters to life so wonderfully that I listened to this one eagerly. 

.

A true feel-good rom-com of a book, the main characters are both likeable and the secondary characters add a lot (I really adored Emma’s dad).

.

The Rom-Commers delivered - I adored this one to the last page.

This was my second time reading the author and I can’t wait to read more.

Having the gender roles reversed for a Bodyguard was so good and interesting. Plus can’t help but love books set in Texas 🤠 the fake dating trope keeps you on your toes but also f*** you Robby!
