Hii it's the anon who asked what your favourite ROTG scene is and i was Wondering
What is your favourite ship? Because ik as all fandoms have, ships will exist everywhere
Thank you for asking! We've been a part of this fandom for quite a while, but were very shy to draw people actually making out. Because of that, our first Guardians ship — Black Ice — we enjoyed mostly as fic readers.
With books, we switched to Nightlight x Katherine, Toothiana x North, and a rarity not many will indulge in Lord and Lady Pitchiner.
We still have a tender place in our hearts for Black Ice, so we live by "ship and let ship" 💖
This ending song from Kingdom Hearts 3 gives me a lot of feels for Jack Frost / Nightlight x Katherine from the Guardians of Childhood book series by William Joyce. I am not well verse of the books because I can’t find the books in my area (I only had ever read the books about the Man in the Moon and the Sandman). I did read up the plots from the wiki even though it’s incomplete. At least I have some grasp about it.
I try to focus primarily on Rise of the Guardians because since book 5 “Jack Frost: The End Becomes the Beginning”, the book universe and the movie universe have become separated. However, I do share fanarts for the Guardians of Childhood.
This song by Utada Hikaru highlights the relationship between Sora and Kairi. They start as friends and by the end of Kingdom Hearts 3, they have seemingly become more than friends as they share a Paopu Fruit, which has this legend: "If two people share one, their destinies become intertwined. They'll remain a part of each other's lives no matter what." In the Guardians of Childhood series, Nightlight (later becomes Jack Frost) and Katherine start out as friends and then they become lovers. Fortunately, their relationship end with a happy ending, unlike Sora and Kairi.
I find this song so wholesome, and just want to share it to the Katlight or Jatherine shippers! I hope you all love this song and my analysis!
Ravenous— for the taste of blood, for the way muscle and flesh rip when he gets a hand in just the right place and pulls, for the thick, heavy texture of meat on his tongue.
For the strange flavor of buttercream frosting, the dual sweetness of sponge cake and pudding, for the leftover crumbs his MiM swipes from the plate with his thumb for Nightlight to mouth at. For fruit drizzled with honey, paired with cheese, paired with wine. For sherbert in synthetic green crystal bowls that chime when someone clacks a spoon against them.
For the feeling of sinking his dagger into a Fearling and crushing it in his hands.
For the scream of a Nightmare when he swings his lance into position and drives it home.
For the gurgle of a Dream Pirate with their throat slit.
For mango, cut into delicate little slivers by manicured fingers. For peppermint and cookies and the smell of burnt sugar, for tiny chocolates shaped like seashells that hide caramel in the center. For smoked fish, wild game. For camomile tea and cubes of Turkish Delight that come from nowhere-anywhere.
For the taste of his Katherine, who smells like ink and featherdown.
After months/years of trying to stay apart, Katherine sends Nightlight a welcoming message. He's on his way to her right away
HC: MiM bad. Lunanoffs bad. Kinda long post. Nightlight/Katherine centric
We disliked MiM ever since we've seen him in RotG, and after reading the books our dislike of him only deepened. The reasons for that deserve a separate post, but today we'll focus on Nightlight.
Even though Nightlight thinks he and MiM are friends, they clearly couldn't have been. His existence had been kept a secret, so the only people he knew were Lunanoffs, sleeping toddler MiM, and Pitch. But then a little girl flew up the clouds and drew his attention, and Nightlight was never the same. The way their relationship deepened and blossomed, we only expected that the natural conflict of loyalties will arise. That it would look even worse after previous biggest Golden Age hero fell to despair because of having second loyalty. Or simply because lonely MiM might be jealous to share his only "friend" with anyone.
The books hinted that Nightlight was developing a personality thanks to his relationship with Katherine. In our version, it also makes him grow and makes his light dimmer. Since no one Nightlight ever did anything like that, Katherine gets scared and distances herself from him. Both suffer.
Jack gets into this mess from Katherine's side just because he's a disruptor by nature, honestly, and doesn't like any kind of forcing people into loneliness. And from Nightlight's side, Moonbeams do their best to distract him from heavy thoughts. Pretty much like that.
Early in the books, Moonbeams are known to "get Night out of his shell" and push him to wherever MiM needed him to go. So here, too, they did their best to distract him from undesirable thoughts. Except this time, they fail. Only getting happy now makes him brighter.
