Jason!Batman deciding it was too dangerous for Dick!Robin to patrol with him for a day or so. And we all know how that’ll work out. (Thanks for asking.)
————
"It’s dangerous out there, Robin." Dick sing songed. "You’ll get hurt out there, Robin. Hah, I’ll show him."
He knew he couldn’t shadow Batman to the warehouse so he took an alternate route and spotted the goons right ahead of him. This was perfect, he could catch the perps and show Jason that he wasn’t some little kid who couldn’t handle challenges.
That had been the plan anyway. Before he had got caught and tied up, left dangling on a stupid meat hook. He’d be able to get out of this if there weren’t two henchmen keeping watch on him. If he could just… There was the sound of fighting outside, gunshots and items being thrown. On some other night Dick would be relieved to know Jason was coming for him. Tonight… Not so much.

I'd love to read about the origins of Jason Batman and Dick Robin. Thanks for asking!

Jason saw it the paper, The Flying Grayson’s plunging to their deaths leaving behind a young son. He had tickets to the show and missed it, following a lead from another case. If he had been there though could he have done something? The next day’s paper wrote that the boy had gone missing and Jason let out a loud angry curse. That night’s patrol was vicious, every punch landing harder than it should The kid was obviously dead and it was on his watch.
The sound of trash cans clattering from the alley below him grabs his attention. He glances down and is shocked at what he sees. Two goons being beaten the hell out of by some tiny kid wielding a pipe half his size. The men land hard on the ground and Jason swoops down.
The kid drops his weapon. “Batman… They- I didn’t-!”
He holds up a hand. “I figured.”
The boy’s face looks familiar and then it clicks.
“What’s your name, kid?” He asks.
“Dick Grayson.”
[And then Jason takes Dick out for a milkshake and give him the whole speech of “I know you want to avenge your parents but the way you’re doing it you’re going to get yourself killed.”
Dick glares at him. “And you’re gonna do something about it?”
“Maybe I could help you.” Jason says totally thinking this is a one and done case.
Turns out, it isn’t. And Dick’s not going anywhere.]

What did I miss? What did they REALLY do now? Inquiring minds wanna know!
Nothing REALLY new, but Batman #28 will be a "spoiler issue" that reveals events in the future, including a "new status quo" for Batman and his allies. I think the big thing will be the reveal of the New Nightwing. I'm morbidly curious about how it'll play out, but many Dick fans aren't exactly partying in the streets, me included. After all those rumors though, I really really wanna see what actually happens.

More of the Pirate and Mermaid Dick, please.

Sometimes half the day is spent basking in the sun. Jason lays half submerged in the calm water while the merman is happily wrapped around him. It’s then he thinks that he could live the rest of his life on this island as long as his sea faring companion stays by his side.
“I wish you could speak.” He mutters, though right now he can’t think of a much to say.
The merman places a shell on his chest and hums quietly laying his head on Jason’s shoulder.
“If you could come up on land that’d be another thing. Or hell, if I could go down below with you.”
When night falls the merman bids him farewell with a kiss that lingers a little longer than normal before disappearing back into the sea. For two days the beach is silent and Jason begins to wonder if he should’ve started building an escape boat the day he washed ashore. For three weeks he’s grown accustomed to the merman’s presence and now that it’s gone this island paradise feels more like an exile. When he hears a loud splash break over the waves he runs to the beach without a second thought.
The merman looks a little worse for wear but he has a grin on his face as Jason approaches. In his hand he holds up a small vial of a dazzling blue liquid.
Jason takes the vial from the merman and examines it. “What is this?”
In response he splashes his hands and smiles wide.
“Will it help me understand you?”
The merman nods and splashes the water again.
“Bottoms up then, I guess.” He pops open the vial and drinks it down.
The world begins to spin and Jason’s out before he hits the sand.
“Jason? Jason, wake up.” A voice whispers in his ear.
His eyes slowly open taking in his surroundings that appear to be an endless void of blue. Arms are wrapped around him and when he shifts out of them his movements feel strange. He’s floating. Jason glances up seeing the blot of the sun shimmering under waves. He spins around in panic until he sees a familiar face.
The merman smiles and takes him by the hand. “Welcome to my home.”

Preferences are often based on intangibles, which is why people often 'agree to disagree'. It can't be "wrong" to not like something, but for your own benefit, just let it go. That makes you the bigger person and there's a victory in there for you.
I did end up just walking away to talk with my cousin. See... the thing is we were talking about movies and she asked what movie did I see in theaters that I didn't like. I answered. I said I didn't really care for The Dark Knight Rises/Nolan's movies. My preference. But she /loves/ the movies, saying how she never cared about Batman until Nolan, and started to defend the movie. u.u She asked for my opinion on movies, but because she didn't agree with what I said, decided to point out how wrong I was.

Ooh, just had a thought — and a wish — more space AU.
(How about some Halloween Space AU!)

“I don’t understand.” John says looking at his father confused.
“You knock on their door, say trick or treat then they give you candy. Remember to say thank you and then we’ll go to the next apartment.” Dick explains.
“Why would they give me candy?”
“It’s part of the holiday.”
John nods though he still seems perplexed. “Is that why I have to wear this?”
“Hey, you said you wanted to be a crayon.” Jason defends.
Jay rolls his eyes. “Really you’re going to argue with a four year old?”
Dick sighs and helps John put on his cap which is the tip of the bright blue crayon. John may look four but in reality he was only a few months old. Born in a growing tank, if he had stayed full term would’ve came out seventeen. The fleet’s bombs ended all of that, saving Jason and him but leaving a massacre of soldiers who never got a chance to open their eyes. Except John.
He knew that at some point people would question the child’s genetics, his glowing eyes making him stand out like a sore thumb. Dick however had the same eyes and it usually quell any strange looks at John in favor of badgering Dick. He could deal with it for days on end as long as John never had too. He wanted to raise a happy child who knew they were genuinely loved and not given life only to be commanded as a soldier. A child who would was about to learn the wonders of Halloween.
“When I was a little kid back on Earth we used to wander the streets at night going door to door. We carried flashlights and would go until our feet ached.” He tells John taking hold of his hand and giving a orange fabric bag to carry.
“In the dark? Wasn’t that scary?”
Dick smiles. “That was part of the fun.”
John nods again but Dick knows the boy doesn’t fully comprehend the notion of how being scared can be fun.
“Tell you what,” Dick stand and leads them down the hall, “we’ll stop by Tim’s house first, alright?”
This seems to peek John’s attention as he grips tighter to his father’s hand. “Ok! Let’s go!”

I don't know how I missed the earlier two, but I absolutely loved these. The relationship between Jay and Dick was priceless. I especially loved Jay calling Dick Chickadee!! Thanks so much for sharing!
Aww thank you!I haven't written for this AU in a long long time but it's fun to hop back to now and again. I'm glad you liked it!

I'm with Ru on this, Dick would be all over that. "You should be JayBat, but you're more of a Jaybird. Would a JayBat be Jaybird coloured? Would you be blue? You'd look good in blue, but you'd be better in red, so you'd be more of a Cardinal anyway"
And Jason would just be sitting at the console thinking 'I thought I gave him enough painkillers to put him out. It's all that damn sugary shit he keeps tossing into the cart. Poptarts are not a food group.'
"It's 3 AM, Dick. Shouldn't you be asleep?"
"Much more like a Cardinal." Dick mutters to himself while doing a handstand.
