If I wanted to better understand Dick Grayson as a character, what should I read?

Dick’s one of those characters who has been around for so very long and has so many interpretations and incarnations over the years, it’s going to be a bit of a personal relationship between yourself and canon when it comes to more conflicting canons in modern times. So any recs I give are based on my personal relationship with Dick and what I see as his core characteristics in each of his consistent “eras” as a character.

Also you can often see her expressions pretty clearly even with the mask on, unlike Steph’s spoiler mask. And when they did that, it didn’t look creepy like Jason’s helmet tends to.

They do say eyes are the window to the soul. Plus maybe Spidey might be more expressive? I’d need to see comparisons etc. He’s also FAR more chatty so we aren’t relying on just body movement.

These are all fair points, though (to be argumentative just to make things interesting) I would debate the idea that Spidey is more expressive, there’s whole comics I’ve read before where the mask doesn’t change at all even during key emotional points. So I think there’s something to your lead here on perhaps it having something to do with his chattiness making up for it. 

And I agree that the reliance on needing to see more of Cass to understand where she’s coming from or even what she’s thinking is a lot more important as a result.

It depended a lot on the artist -- unfortunately there were quite a few that gave her mask an almost scarecrow-looking effect over her mouth (especially around the time of and after her “evil” spell). 

It might also be that Steph’s costume had a lot of her personality built right into it, being made by her and whatnot. 

Which goes back to my endless complaining that Cass remains the only Batkid to have never made her own suit derived from her personality in canon. (Something that’s probably going to change real soon! I hope. Unless Dick just throws an old spare Nightwing costume at her and is like “uhh here’s a yellow marker to color in that gaudy red. I never liked it that much either. wonder why I never went blue”)

My roomate made Mary Sue and Gary Stu in the sims, but Gary dies (which is very unSuelike of him.) Anyway, we've decided that the Grim Reaper came cuz he was Just Jealous, and Mary Sue has befriended him and Roomate has added him to the active household.
