Attitude is EVERYTHING. There's nothing quite like a pack going awry to remind you of that. After coming back to camp after an already long day, and realizing you're one pack horse short, and it could've happened anytime in the last nine hours. After about 13 miles and all the light the day had to offer, you head back to camp. Compile that with blown tires, overheating pickups, broken doors, misplaced sat phones, ill working stoves, depleted firewood, dull chainsaws, and the list goes on! Losing a horse and heading home at dusk, with just as many miles ahead of you, as are behind you, was really just icing on the cake. As I took a deep breath and simmered, I reached in my bags for a pair of gloves to face the bitter darkness and realized how majestic the sun was reflecting off the mountain, and that I was completely prepared. I had snacks, water, everything to keep me warm, even wool socks, I knew what I was doing, where I was going, and even which short cuts are too close to dens after dark. Finding this horse really was the icing on the cake, I got to brush up and put my tracking skills to the test. I was pretty darn proud I could tell this horse from ALL the other prints littering the mountain, by the shape of her hoof. No, I dont know that word.

Giving up is not something I was raised to do. I am a fighter. I choose love over fighting, but I will fight with everything that I have in me for what I believe, for the people I love, and to spread the Gospel of my Lord, Jesus Christ.

And why should I quit? God has given me everything I will ever need to succeed. He made the path, He takes everything the enemy would use for evil and turns it into good, and He is FOR ME.

Dont give up. What you are going through will pass on. Keep moving forward. You will be rewarded in your patience, in your perseverance, in your trust, in your faith. Keep moving. Dont stop. Stand firm on the Word of God, on the promises He speaks. You are His child. You are the head and never the tail, above and never beneath! Short version, you are chosen by God for such a time as this.
