Keith is a Basitin who was once banished from the Basitin Isles, having been charged with the murder of his parents, and tasked to complete a trial in order to return. However, the circumstances around their deaths were more complicated than it seemed, with another Basitin having actually killed his mother, and thinking his father had done it, Keith had killed him in turn.

Regardless, Keith managed to complete the trial set upon him, and eventually became his people's ambassador to the rest of the world. Keith comes across as serious and indifferent, and banishment has made him cynical, but he's protective of those he's close to, and holds onto his people's ideals of being honorable and loyal. He puts a lot of blame on himself for what happened to his parents, and isn't very good at putting his feelings into words, admitting that he's bad at being sensitive.

If you can believe it, this entire drawing was done completely upside down! If you want more details, it's Technique #1 from this YouTube video by goblish titled "How to Draw Literally Anything"; this is the only "how to draw anything" video I've actually enjoyed, engaged with, and am now following through with. Every other video is like, "it's all just shapes, bro", but imo, that approach just seems lame, monotonous, and arduous.

I used only the HB pencil this time around, and the line work looks so much nicer, imo, lmao.

I don't want anybody to be discouraged from posting their art because of how good you perceive my works or art progression. Most of the time, I'm using reference images!! Sure, it's not cheating, but it is certainly soooo much easier than doing it from scratch. And sure, my initial deer boys didn't use reference images, but... hey, if I could do that, anybody can!

I'm gonna add shading (still upside down), and I'll share that, too. But I wanted to post this rn cuz of how overly excited I got by how cute Keith looks here :3
