Imagine the doctor comes back, and he's like, "How did you go this long without being treated?????"

Had the first part of my evaluation on Monday, and this is actually kinda what it felt like, lmao. The doc was a nice old man w/ a good sense of humor. During a portion where he gave me prompts to rate with an accuracy scale of 1–10, there were multiple moments where, after having already heard my story and concerns, he'd give me a prompt and then, without skipping a beat, just go, "oh, that's a ten" without consulting me; and he did this in other parts of the evaluation, too.

During another part of the exam, he gave me the question, "How often do you feel overly active and compelled to do things, like you were driven by a motor?", and I answered with, "sometimes". He stopped, looked up at me, and said, "Sometimes‽ You've been moving non-stop for 45 minutes! [...] I've gotta keep an eye on you..." And I laughed... because he was right (o_o)"

I'm a big fidgeter—the doc called me a professional fidgeter—so if I have a pen, you can bet I'll be spinning dat thang; so, and I didn't entirely notice, I had been fidgeting with the pen for the whole meeting by that point. It was an embarrassing call-out, but it, along with the aforementioned events, really provided me with a feeling of... 'ADHD euphoria'? It wasn't a battle to prove that my concerns are real, that these aren't just problems "everyone deals with"—he believed me wholeheartedly. And that felt amazing.

Of course, there are still a few things left to do, but... it's looking promising :]

doing better! this time has been good in making me understand that I need to set and be more comfortable with boundaries. energy is precious when you're depressed, and I don't have enough for everyone :/

I should also act on the fact that it doesn't have to be exclusively 0 or 100; I should try to find a comfortable in-between.

anyways, therapy is great.

I've been thinking about how to answer this every day. I'm quite open with my parents now about many things—which I'm very grateful for—but I don't want my telling them I'm bi to turn into a thing; y'know, especially since I'm currently dating a girl whom I have no intentions of breaking up with. Like, I'm not gay; this isn't me saying I plan to change my entire lifestyle, but I know that my parents are gonna interpret it like that at some level. And this is kinda what I mean by not feeling queer enough sometimes: I'm not revolutionizing my life now that I've embraced that I'm bi; I'm just me with a new label.

i think people really under sell the physical side effects of mental health disorders sometimes. like sure the depression and anxiety may be 'just in your head' but when what's in your head happens to disrupts your sleep schedule and prevent you from going outside regularly and eating consistent meals and exercising and generally taking care of your body. well it sure takes its toll huh.
