Potential Character for Mrs. Kesley and Tumblr 6/17/2025:

“Tyke”, Saurian Delivery Guy:

What he might be in: Gamma World.

Background:

Tyke was just a normal Saurian trying to earn tips and dodge traffic back in a parallel Earth where dinosaurs became the dominant sapient species. He was on a delivery run when a freak interdimensional wormhole sucked him (and his delivery scooter) into Gamma World. Now stuck in a radioactive wasteland filled with mutant deathbats and psychic tumbleweeds, Tyke’s only goal was survival — but his can-do attitude and inexplicable logistical genius got him noticed.

Over time, others started following him for his ability to actually get things where they need to go on time. Now, somehow, he’s running a caravan. He hates it, but he’s weirdly good at it.

Tyke was just trying to deliver an order of glowfruit smoothies and synth-crisps to a couple of stegosaur twins when a freak wormhole opened mid-run. One moment: traffic, chirping, and podcasts. The next: “WELCOME TO GAMMA WORLD. PLEASE WATCH YOUR STEP.” At first, it was pure survival: scavenge, evade death, sleep under a flipped bus, repeat. But Tyke’s innate sense of spatial memory, time management, and absolute refusal to die somehow got him noticed. Scavvers started following him, then mutant mechanics, then a psychic goat accountant named Dr. Bleat. Now he’s “Boss Saur” — unofficial leader of the Gamma Ground Express, the only caravan that consistently (somehow) gets cargo past irradiated fungus forests, radioactive cultists, and the dreaded Accounting Zone (which taxes your memories).

How he is like me:

We both have people we rely on and who rely on us. In addition, we are both very determined and do reasonably well under pressure. For example, every week, I am determined to find a character for tumblr.

Kelsey Notes:

It is easy to work under pressure when it is something we have a strong interest in

          For example, when a schedule is tight you will always come up with a character

We can rely on your knowledge about the characters world to keep a conversation going even though you might not have been able to create a good write up

When the internet goes out it can feel like you are being denied access to something that you enjoy

In reality, the people around you want you to have access to something that brings you comfort

As we get older, sometimes it’s harder for our support system to make things happen easily like they used to

          (i.e Kroger is out of coffee yogurt, then we can try HEB)

Tyke was thrown in a world that he was unfamiliar with and he was scared

Sometimes it can be scary when things happen out of the normal routine, but we can always make the best of it

          When the internet is out at Beacon, what else can you use to occupy your free time?

While Tyke might have been feeling strong emotions, he made the best of the situation and found ways to “adapt”

Potential Character for Mrs. Kelsey and Tumblr 5/22/2024:

Rambley Raccoon, Chief Mascot of Indigo Park:

What he’s from: Indigo Park.

What he might be in: Gamma World.

All about him (according to the “Indigo Park Guide”): “The star of the show is here! Everyone’s favorite trash panda, Rambley is here to make sure you have the most fun as possible! While his friends may think he gets a bit too excited, Rambley is always there for his friends! No matter what happens, Rambley will be there to brighten your mood! Meet Rambley today, only at Indigo Park, located in scenic REDACTED!”

Personality:

He can be rather childish, likes trains, and likes to hear himself talk. He takes his job very seriously, places a large amount of importance on those he considers friends, has a good conscience, and wants to do what’s right.

Background:

Rambley is one of the inhabitants of Indigo Park, and, like the others, was based on one of the beloved characters of animator Isaac Indigo. His life and his job were simple: Make the guests happy, alongside his friends: Francis Fox, Mixie Mouse, Finley the Sea Serpent, Lloydford “Lloyd” Lion, Salem the Skunk, and Mollie Macaw. Even his “enemy”, Salem Skunk, and his rival, Lloydford “Lloyd” Lion, were a part of this.

Then, one day, something happened. Something bad. Something none of them expected. It started when some of the guests and “cast members” came in. They looked uneasy and nervous, but, at first, didn’t want to talk about why. Eventually, one of the cast members mentioned that there were “tensions” between America and certain other nations, but assured Rambley that “life would go on”.

Suddenly, a strange sound was heard. A siren. The guests and cast members began panicking. Rambley and his friends tried to calm everyone down. Then there was a big flash and it felt like something hit them.

In spite of all this, Rambley managed to convince his fellow mascots to keep everything ready, for when the guests returned. Francis kept the gardens in order, Mixie made treats and dishes, Finley kept his shell collection in order, Lloyd rehearsed for his performances, Salem used their inventiveness to create gadgets around the park, Mollie kept her planes in working order, and Rambley himself organized things and kept the park clean.

They continue to wait for the guests to return. Maybe those folks on the horizon might be guests!

How he is like me:

We both put a lot of emphasis on friends (like Trey, Mr. Kuartez, Dr. Mosier, and others) and we like to talk about things that interest us (like Rambley likes trains and I like fan fictions).

Kelsey Notes:

Sometimes individuals with autism never outgrow their “childlike” interests and preferences. 

          This relates more to feelings of nostalgia and remembering a simpler time in their life

It can also relate to having an appreciation of something from the past that they feel guilty forgetting about (i.e. holding on to stuffed animals or VHS tapes)

Rather than fixate on what might have happened to the guests, Rambly was able to encourage everyone to hold on to hope and keep everything up and running until their guests made it back

Keeping the park up and running gave them jobs to do and kept them busy in their spare time even though they didn’t know if the guests would return or not

Rambly was able to help keep them distracted to not find out about the events happening outside of the park

Sometimes keeping busy can be a good thing because it helps to build tolerance for non-preferred activities

Having enough activities to fill the day can also be helpful when we get bored of our interests- it’s hard to believe that we can get grumpy spending TOO much time with our interests and free time

          It does happen and this is usually when a support system steps in to help with activities outside of the house, etc.

There is such a thing as having too much time to think which can often lead to restlessness, anxiety or hyperactivity

Jobs like keeping the park up and running, even if it seem pointless, helps Rambly and friends balance their time and it keeps them distracted from overthinking too much about what could be happening outside the park

Potential Character for Mrs. Kelsey and Tumblr 8/6/2024:

Nimona, Seemingly Teenage Shapeshifter:

What she’s from: Nimona.

Personality:

Nimona is a rebellious and thrill-seeking individual who wants to overthrow the institution and initially only decided to work for Ballister because she was bored. She desires to kill her enemies and tries to do so when given the opportunity, and is only stopped by Ballister who tries to serve as her moral compass.

Despite her sadistic traits and liking to prank and scare people, Nimona hates being called a monster, as it reminds her how she was once attacked by villagers for her shapeshifting abilities, and betrayed by her friend Gloreth after the latter was manipulated by her parents to see Nimona as a monster.

Nimona would grow to become best friends with Ballister, but after he finds out that she was the creature in Gloreth’s stories and their friendship got broken by Ballister pulling out a weapon, Nimona would go on a rampage, burning down part of the kingdom’s city and putting civilians in danger.

However, after being humiliated and mocked by the civilians when she was knocked out by several of the city’s security drones, Nimona tries to kill herself by using the sword of Gloreth’s statue before being calmed down by Ballister, which caused her to start hugging him. When she saw that the Director was going to use her cannons to destroy half of the city, Nimona stopped her by turning into a giant bird and going to the cannons before they were fired. The relationship with her and Ballister stayed solid even after her presumed death, and she was extremely happy when he found out she was alive.

Background:

Nimona was a shapeshifting girl who 1000 years before the movie’s events, tried to find somewhere she could fit in, and one day met a girl named Gloreth. The two would become friends and they would often play with each other. However, when Gloreth’s village saw Nimona shapeshifting, they became horrified and attacked her, and when Nimona tried to talk to Gloreth, she was manipulated by her parents to see Nimona as a monster, and told her to leave her village. Saddened by this, Nimona would start to accept her treatment as a villain and decided to cause havoc and chaos everywhere around her.

She is first seen in the movie vandalizing one of the Institute’s posters, and after seeing a report about Ballister Boldheart, who had been accused of being the killer of Queen Valerin, she decided to go to his lair and talk to him. There, Nimona asks him to become his sidekick and commit crimes with him, unaware that Ballister wasn’t interested in villainy and that he wanted to prove his innocence in the death of Queen Valerin.

After a series of incidents in the movie (Spoiler alert).

The next few months, people would start to see Nimona and Ballister as heroes and make a memorial for Nimona who was presumed dead, with even a remorseful Todd honoring her memory. However, when Ballister goes to his old lair, he finds Nimona alive and is extremely happy.

How she is like me:

When we do bad things, we both feel pretty upset about it. Also, deep down, we’re both good people. I usually try to avoid doing bad things by mostly just keeping certain thoughts of what I’d LIKE to do inside my head. I usually try to recompense by apologizing and being as nice as possible. Nimona began her recompense for her time as a would-be villain by killing the Director.

Kelsey Notes:

Sometimes when you’ve made a bad decision your mind can trick you into thinking that you’re better off digging the hole deeper

For some people emotions can be very strong, especially when we feel that we’ve hurt the ones we love who help us

It was difficult for Nimona to problem solve her way out of a situation when others misjudged her. 

Unfortunately, how people judge us can be out of our control, what we do have control over is our reactions to certain situations.

It is more difficult to stop ourselves in the moment and control how we handle a situation, especially when we don’t exactly know how to solve the problem

When we remain calm people want to be around us, when we get agitated quickly other people can feel those emotions making it less likely for them to want to be around us or help us

Overall, you may not know exactly how a problem is going to get solved but you can always trust that your support system will be there to help you through it and generally receive the best outcome possible

Potential Character for Mrs. Kelsey and Tumblr 4/30/2024:

Cheermole, Shy Morale-Booster:

What she’s from: Gamma World (maybe).

Background:

(Note: I'm not sure what sort of theme park the Performapals are a part of, I just made a guess or something)

In one worldline, a bunch of artificial life-forms were created as “living mascots” for a beloved bunch of theme parks. Called the “Performapals”, their only goal was to help and entertain everyone around them.

One figure created was a rather ironic creature: Cheermole, a being created to keep morale of her fellow Performapals (and others) up. There was just one problem with this: She was painfully shy, and lacking in self-confidence. She spent much of her time hiding underground or attempting to hide behind her pom-poms. She had a few friends, including the greaser-esque Swordfish. Like the others, she revered her creators (the “Makers”), and trusted in their plan for her and her fellow Performapals.

Then, one day, the Big Mistake (known to the Performapals as the “Showstopper”) occurred, and everything changed. Like the others, she remembers where she was and what she was doing on that terrible day (sort of like how a person might remember where he was or what he was doing on 9-11 or during Pearl Harbor): She was involved in a show, and did her best to help keep morale up among those who were helping evacuate the park.

As time wore on and news came in about everything that was happening and people came to the park less and less, Cheermole and her fellow Performapals watched with abject horror and confusion: Why would the Makers (who were seen as wise and benevolent creatures who only wanted what was best for them) allow this? Why would ANY human (who the Performapals saw as kind and gentle creatures that came into their lives to play with them and have fun with them and be entertained by them) commit such madness? Even the wisest among the Performapals had no answers.

At some point, Cheermole had a sobering and worrying thought: What if the Showstopper was some kind of punishment from the Makers? Did they do something wrong? Didn’t they make humans happy anymore? Even as her friends assured her that this wasn’t their fault, she still worried.

To make matters worse, “humans” (at least, they were MOSTLY looking like humans) came… but they weren’t like the humans they were used to. They were mean, and had guns. And then Wilton Dempsey, one of the greatest of the Makers, returned… but something was wrong with him. He began making suggestions for the park. Suggestions that didn’t seem very “fun” in the eyes of the Performapals.

Now, others begin coming, and Cheermole and her fellow Performapals must decide what to do about this situation. Whatever their choice, it will likely be spectacular.

How she is like me:

I’m not exactly SHY, per se, but I don’t always talk at times. Plus, various social situations affect me in various ways. Social situations like Inspire, where people make noise, sometimes, and do things that frustrate me. I do my best to endure, doing things like going somewhere else to calm down.

Kelsey Notes:

As you continue to grow and progress, you become more aware of complex social situations going on in everyday life and in the world

It can be scary when you start to realize that you can’t trust everyone like you used

As you progress, you start to balance out your shyness because you are able to tolerate social situations you weren’t able to handle because you now have better coping skills

Still, at times, having better understanding to how the world works, it can be overwhelming and you can develop anxieties that cause you to question your ability to handle stressful situations

As adults, we deal with rewards and punishments less- we have to face upsetting or disappointing others because of our actions with that being the main consequence of our actions. 

This can make us feel guilty which can moticate us  to make better choices in the future because we don’t want to let anyone down

As you make this transition, catastrophizing can cause our judgement to get clouded and our anxieties to take control

Potential Character for Mrs. Kelsey and Tumblr 4/1/2024:

Nez Bellows, Smith and Tinkerer:

What he’s from: Mice and Mystics.

Background:

Nez Bellows became the Royal Smith in Castle Andon after an incident that led to him being arrested. King Andon pardoned him, and Nez not only learned from his mistake, but also seized his second chance and became a trusted ally of the Royal Family, known for his craftsmanship of armor and weapons. (It should be noted that he is still somewhat haunted by whatever it was he did, as he apparently relived that memory during the incident involving Glorm the Necwormancer).

When Vanestra came to the Castle, Nez was soon evicted from the Forge, and was one of those who became involved against her. He was also among those falsely arrested for treason and locked in the dungeon (alongside Maginos, Tilda, and Collin).

Now, he works on behalf of Collin and his allies to aid Princess Chloe and others in taking back the kingdom.

I know Nez, at least, remains a mouse, as a number of the tales of Mice and Mystics are told by his descendant, Daz, to his descendant’s son and daughter, Tip and May.

How he is like me:

We both are quite strong and creative. Also, I (sometimes) do my best to learn from my mistakes and take advantage of second chances. Like, every day is a second chance to make up for the mistakes of the previous day.

Kelsey Notes:

Learning from your mistakes is a process that involves problem solving to find a way to eliminate the mistake you are making instead of continuously making the mistake and expecting an apology after the fact to make everything ok.

The apology after the fact is what helps us to realize that we need to fix the problem rather than make up for it after the fact

When you avoid or suppress the problem because you feel bad only allows for a brief reprieve from the mistake. 

Until you make the same mistake again and the cycle of negativity rears it’s ugly head.

It can be really difficult when we are making strides to better ourselves and our behavior only for more bad things to end up happening- like Vanestra kicking Nez out after being given a second chance. 

It’s always good to have a support system available for the times when we try to do our best but things just don’t always go the way we expect them to

even when we think we’re making the right choices

Fortunately Nez has a support system that he can work with to take back the kingdom rather than enter a cycle of depression about not being able to take action himself
