In Corfu at the central square close to the castle there is a series of oreichalcos or brass plates representing the seven islands of the Heptanese. Of course for Ithaca it was our boy Odysseus

And I have to say that they gave his pileus hat an upgrade hahaha 😆 😂 it almost looks like the ottoman occupation fez (φέσι) hat and at the same time it doesn't lol 😆

And you know...I SO see him wearing something like that over a crown or diadem at this point lol 😆 sorry sorry totally random post over one of the photos I took in the past!

basically Ithakan ecology is closer to paxos than to kephallenia which is the closest! while Zakynthos is really far away and is closer so this is so cool

Αχίλλειον,Κέρκυρα

Το Αχίλλειο ή Αχίλλειον είναι μία από τις γνωστότερες βασιλικές επαύλεις της Ευρώπης και ίσως το σημαντικότερο αξιοθέατο αρχιτεκτόνημα της Κέρκυρας. Βρίσκεται στον οικισμό Γαστούρι, περίπου 10 χλμ. από την πόλη της Κέρκυρας. Η έπαυλη αυτή σχεδιάστηκε από τους Ιταλούς αρχιτέκτονες Ραφαέλε Καρίττο (Raffaele Caritto) και Αντόνιο Λάνντι (Antonio Landi) με επόπτη τον πρόξενο της Αυστρίας στην Κέρκυρα Αlexander Warssderg στην αρχή, και μετά τον θάνατό του τον βαρώνο Von Bucowitz, σε πομπηιανό ρυθμό και χτίστηκε το 1890 με εξ ολοκλήρου δαπάνη της Αυτοκράτειρας Ελισάβετ της Αυστρίας (Σίσσυ), η οποία λόγω της ευαίσθητης υγείας της ζήτησε την οικοδόμησή της. Την έπαυλη την αφιέρωσε στον Αχιλλέα, απ’ όπου και το όνομα της, τον περίβολο της οποίας πλούτισε με αγάλματα από την αρχαία ελληνική μυθολογία. Εξ αυτών τα πιο γνωστά έργα είναι οι «Εννέα Μούσες», ορισμένες έργο του Ιταλού γλύπτη Ντομένικο Μοράνι (Domenico Morani και άλλες αγοράστηκαν από την Αυτοκράτειρα από τη Βίλλα Μποργκέζε και ο Αχιλλέας Θνήσκων του Χέρτερ.
