Monday evening Jack Lowe was hanging out, playing Frisbee golf, in Kessler Park in the Northeast section of Kansas City, Mo.

“I threw an errant Frisbee golf shot, and it went into the woods. As I was looking for my Frisbee golf disc, I came across the remains of a horse that clearly looked distressed. I mean, there was rope around its neck, around its legs,” said Lowe.

We converted this old bathroom from a cast iron tub to a shower with a bench and two niches.

This project had several good size obstacles including:

50 year old 1-1/2″ thick lath concrete construction

330# cast iron bathtub that had to be cut in half in order to salvage as much of the remaining…

wall tile that, not only did I have to attempt to match, but it had been previously electrostatically painted the most ultra bright white I’ve ever seen! (grout too!)

All in all, I’d say we did a pretty good job.  It doesn’t match perfect at the moment, but the only way to accomplish that is to have everything painted the same color at the same time.

  In most cases, we can take these old cast iron bathtubs out in a single piece.  But due to this unique scenario, we were forced to cut this one in half.  It is much messier, but necessary.
