Ok, so temptation stateside is a whole different ball game then living on isolated tiny Guam. Starbucks, Cheese fries, ChickfilA, and the list goes on and on. I felt like where do I even start. I started with learning nutrition on the restaurants that we eat at regularly-Mexican and ChickfilA. Did you know that 1 regular chicken nugget at CFA is 1 carb, so if I want some chicken nuggets, I eat them. Its all about budgeting those carbs. I am safe in the confines of my kitchen, because I have that down to a science. I now know everything there is to know about the nutrition of these restaurants that I eat at regularly.
1. Grilled is better (salmon is a favorite)
2. Watch out for salads-tons of carbs
3. Salad dressings can be loaded with sugar-especially vinegarettes
4. No potatoes, rice, pasta, bread (OMG the yeast rolls :-P)
5. add extra cheese, sour cream, avocado, an over-easy egg to a burger
6. watch out for ketchup-simply heinz has 4 grams of carbs for a serving
7. unsweetened tea or club soda with a lime or water is safest
8. Tell the waitstaff to leave anything off the plate you don’t eat on keto
