This is probably the highest I've ever sang with my chest voice on a record (high C). So my girlfriend introduced me to this song a few months ago. The first time I heard it, it just clicked with me. I've always been a fan of minimalist electro influences, orchestral arrangements and heavy tribal percussion. The depth of the chorus really drew me in -- to be able to layer so many different sounds while making the chorus really open up was a challenge that I'm always eager to try. It's like trying to convince someone that your really dirty room is actually organized. Then came recording it. I'm not going to lie, I struggled with this a lot. Not so much the instrumental production, but more so the vocal production. Let's be honest -- I haven't record anything in 10 months. I rarely get to sing anymore (besides sitting in traffic). I originally recorded the song a whole step lower than the original, but it felt boring. So I just said fuck it and belted it in the original key haha. All in all, this track took me about a month of on-and-off producing and recording. I hope you guys dig it! As always, I'll try to put out material more often.
