i won a contest a couple of months ago through their website, and my friend Michelle and I, got to go backstage. they took us backstage and we waited for about 10 minutes, it was me, Michelle, 2 other guys, and 2 other girls. the band came and everyone was just standing their in awe, so i go “hey guys!” and they said hi. i hugged Dolores first, then shook hands w/ all the guys, then as Dolores was signing for other people i talked to the guys. i drew them a cartoon that i framed of them, and the guys loved it, they were laughing and everything. i asked Fergal if they went out after the Hammerstein Ballroom show and he said yeah “To a few irish pubs”.
Then i got to Dolores and i was nervous, my mouth was so dry, and i was just like talking about random things and she said “were are you from” and i said Iran, she said “i have a friends from there, im asking because of your dark complexion” and then she signed my cd To Yusef, Love Dolores xxx as she was signing she said i have brother named Joseph. and i told her i had a letter for her, and she said she would read it after the show, she promised.
in Fergals hand above is the cartoon i gave them, they really liked it! i took pictures w/ everyone and it went by so fast and get this… I FORGOT TO GIVE HER THE LETTER!!! so then the coolest thing in the world happened, during the show, while the band was playing ‘salvation’ Dolores came to the very side, right in front of us, and everyone rushed up and started shaking her hand and stuff. when i shook her hand she winked at me, and then i remembered THE LETTER! so i reached into my pocket and gave it to her, and she winked again! it was so incredible. also during the end of the show in 'linger’ she came back and sat, as she hugged many people and i hugged her one last time! that was great. the show was very good, i got to hear 'how’ and 'dreaming my dreams’ live in person for the first time. the audience was lame and boring, but i stood up anyway. i had a blast, but i think the hammerstein show was better cuz it was an open floor. this show was longer. at the end of the show Dolores said 'we’ll be back in a few weeks, i promise this time’.
