Anytime I see someone complain about the endings to Wilder Girls or Kill Creatures and how they sucked, I want to gentle place my hands against their head and ask, "What kind of ending were you fucking expecting?"
Today my support worker helped me go to The Chestnut Tree Bookshop and Café
I bought The Cave Downwind of the Café by Mikey Please and Welsh Giants, Ghosts & Goblins by Claire Fayers.
I also had a matcha, it is such a beautiful space! I found a lot of books I enjoyed reading (alas all paperbacks, my preference is for hardcovers for my own collection!). Check them out if you want to support a delightful indie bookstore! 📚
Rory power released a new horror book???? And no one told me????
I finished Kill Creatures by Rory Power last night at 3am.
I’m obsessed. In need to scream about it. I rated it 4.75. But if it stays in my brain for a while I know I’ll have to change it for a 5.
ITS SO BLOODY GOOD I LOVED IT!!! Had me just wanting to know why why why she killed her best friends. She was absolutely obsessed with them. But nothing made sense. I started to guess some things tbh. But damn there was 2 major twists at the end that I just didn’t call. At least one of them to the extent that it went. And the other I just wow. I wish there was more I could read about this story, this world.
I think I wanna go buy a physical copy.

Book Blurb:
Last year, Nan’s three best friends ventured into the canyons near their small town and never returned. Now one of them is back, and Nan can’t believe it…because she’s the one who killed them. From the New York Times bestselling author of Wilder Girls comes another dark thriller about friendship, jealousy, desire, and revenge, with a twist ending that needs to be talked about.
Last summer, Luce, Edie, Jane, and Nan took a boat out for one final swim in the river. It was a perfect summer night.
But the only one who returned that night was Nan. Edie, Jane, and Luce disappeared, and Nan’s story has always been the same: She has no idea what happened. The girls went ahead, and it was as though they vanished into thin air.
Now, one year later, all of Saltcedar has gathered at the river for a memorial. Nan even recreated the outfit she wore that fateful day last summer. And when Luce climbs out of the water, no one is more surprised than Nan.
Because Nan killed her. Right before she killed Edie and Jane.
Review:
Four girls, a trip to the canyons... a disaster and only one girl is left alive because she's killed the rest... or has she because a year later one of them has returned... and she wants revenge. Friendship, jealousy, desire, and revenge... all in this one fun read that is perfect for my Pretty Little Liars girls. Luce, Edie, Jane, and Nan are four friends who took a boat to swim in a river last summer... only everyone but Nan disappears and Nan says she has no idea what happened to the other girls and they just vanished... but now a year later Luce is back and the careful lies that Nan has created will begin to fall apart because the truth is Nan killed all three of them... but Luce is back and she wants revenge. I loved the twisted mystery this was. I was so intrigued throughout and I love how twisted the friendship, if you could even call it that, was between the four girls. I love the final twist as well because it really goes to show you just how vicious girls can be and I love it. I would highly recommend this read for fans of twisted mysteries!!
