I did the Scary Thing, so I get Skyrim!
Aaaaaand a PTSD diagnosis.
Possibly with generalized anxiety disorder and depression not otherwise specified, but she wanted to go over the notes again before deciding on whether to make those official, because she thinks the PTSD diagnosis might cover the other stuff.
Got an appointment with a telemedicine psychiatrist for February, and a standing offer of therapy that I don’t intend to take her up on.
I’m a little surprised that it went in the PTSD direction, but she was really certain about that one. And it’s something I know I have symptoms of, as opposed to the out-of-nowhere bipolar dx from asshole ex-psychiatrist. And I’m comfortable that the treatment options are going to be in line with what I want, and that’s what matters.
Mom went and literally held my hand through the entire thing and that helped. And the clinician was really nice and didn’t do anything to raise red flags with me at all.
So. PTSD. I can handle that. It’s a little surprising but it at least makes sense. I’m relieved that I got taken seriously, respected, and wasn’t yelled at.
