King IV’s music is gritty and edgy, imaginative and bold. In other words, the moment I stumbled upon this Melbourne based alt pop artist’s music, I was hooked. Her latest single Bump is a bass rumbling, dark swervy electronica, dancehall, and electropop emulsion exploding with sawing energy and blistering verve. Grimes’ artistic eccentricity meets Kill J’s experimental bewitchment, M.I.A.’s tough grit, and Sleigh Bells’ noisy flair. There is a little bit of magic in this composition titled We Can Get It from Melbourne based artist KING IV that features RROMARIN half of ritual noise crafters Kult Kyss. The percussive sound is immense and capable of transporting you to the future. The vocals are off golden-pure bright and mesmerizing--enchanting to the auditory system.

We just discovered Melbourne alt/electro pop artist King IV recently and featured her latest original in our prior post. To be honest, we were so enraptured by her gritty, edgy music that we took our time going through the music she’d had out so far. That’s when we came upon this bubbly carbonated, crisp crackling remix of King IV’s We Can Get It featuring Kult Kyss’ Rromarin by Donatachi. They Sydney producer’s futuristic edit of We Can Get It adds sharp glistening synths and a whole lot of exhilarating trap and bass bounce. It’s a soapy effervescent re-work that reminds me of Melanie Martinez’s Soap in its most sudsy moments. I can literally envision bubbles bursting as I dance my way across the room in ecstasy to Donatachi’s wicked remix, which you can download, here.

The Lockdown Terrarium

I am in lockdown in a nicesafe, middle-class suburb, which unfortunately allows me to be locked away from the reality of my neighbours’ lives down the road in Dunoon, no matter my lefty leanings. Some days I forget why we are even in lockdown because I ma so busy I don’t see the news.

KING IV

King IV holds the crown in 2017 with some truly superb bangers with lush futuristic symphonic melodies and vocals that grab you and throw you right upon the dancefloor. Here are the tunes that made her year this year. We cannot wait to hear what she has in store for us in 2018!

01. It Don’t Matter - Moonbase & Anderson Paak Moonbase is very easily one of my favourite producers and this song C R A N K S. His tracks ‘Greyhound’ and ‘OT Oss’ will also melt your brain.

02. Changa - Pnau The title track of in my opinion one of the best albums of the year. Pnau make dance music a literal work of art.

03. Raingurl - Yaeji Everyone is obsessed with this song and with good reason, I wanna be friends with Yaeji so bad.

04. Big Party - Fresh Hex This track is literally everything a big party feels like, makes me wanna chew hubba bubba and dance really passionately. Fresh Hex is going to take over the world.

05. Yolo - Clypso Clypso is one of my favourite artists, she produces entirely on her own and her live show is so impressively DIY. Also very worth checking out her track ‘BIGsmall’.

06. Take Me (feat. Kady Rain) - Donatachi I still cannot get over this song, never before has a song made me want to feel good today and every other day. I hate summer but would probably love anything this song told me to.

07. Kings & Queens  - Joyride I saw Joyride at NSC in Melbourne recently and it was truly phenomenal. Joyride is the king of emo bangers.

08. Bacardi - Sega Bodega Sega Bodega’s production is one of a kind and I am so enamoured by every release, he’s also a consistent collaborator with my fave boss bitch SHYGIRL and they are a match made in heaven.

09. Juice - Lady Leshurr Pretty sure I have included Lady Leshurr on every playlist I have ever done because she won’t stop releasing fire.

10. Babygirl (feat. Uffie) - Charli XCX

Charli XCX ruled 2017 and will probably rule the world by 2018, the consistency of bangers this year blew my mind, this is my fave from ‘Number 1 Angel’.
