Portrait of Joseph Emanuel, King of Portugal (1773)
by Miguel António do Amaral
Point Breeze, New Jersey
In case you missed it, Joseph Bonaparte’s 60 acre American estate, or rather, what’s left of it, has been sold to the state of New Jersey and will enter the state’s park system. The site will also be used as ground for new local government buildings and park.
The estate no longer has the Point Breeze home. The first home burned to the ground during Joseph’s stay. His rebuilt home was razed after he sold the estate. The original gardener’s home does still stand and the tunnels Joseph had constructed remain, slightly. The gardener’s home will be turned into a museum dedicated to Joseph and the estate.
Fun fact: There are rumors the grounds are haunted and that even the ghost of Joseph may be seen.

10 Day WIP Challenge: A Tragedy
The obvious big tragedy in my story is the deaths of the king and princes, the inciting incident of the whole story.
It was awful. All of it was awful. The stench of burning herbs and blood, the sound of his strained breath echoing off the stone, the taste of copper on her tongue, the wet heat of the air. It all reduced her to tears before he even came into view around the corner.
She knew she couldn’t take it. She couldn’t go on. No haphazerdly scrawled message dictated by a firm-lipped messanger could have prepared her for this and whoever thought it could was a fool. She wanted to scream. Her chest was caving in. A voice in her mind was demanding her to run out of the room and away from this fire. To Caleb, maybe. To anyplace but here.
But a smaller voice told her she couldn’t. This was real and she couldn’t pretend it wasn’t. Not anymore. She had to move forward, past the curtain drawn around her father’s deathbed. And when he finally caught her gaze, the tears only came faster.
His face, his body, his soul; each was its own tragedy, worse than the last. He was a corpse, every bone a terrible swell in the sallow sea of his skin. His hair was a mess of black and grey wires on his scalp. His cheeks were sunken and his lips stained with dark scarlet blood. His eyes, murky and distant, were dry, but red with the memories of pain.
“Father.” It was almost unintelligible under a sob. “I.... I....”
“My darling.”
His hand snaked out from beneath her mother’s quilt toward her. She gripped it, hard, with a shaking palm, and said nothing. She couldn’t, even if she had the words, and she didn’t. Neither did. They just sat together, waiting for it all to end.

Phew, I am so glad God helps me with everything I put my hands to work to. I am so happy this is done.
Information
king Joseph's first note. No, King Joseph is not the same king that General Gaius and Cassius worked for. This is a different king that is from many years ago, like, Young Elder Gray Eyes years ago. He was king of another land in Falana called, Kingdom Eron. ( I have my dear best friend Gracie to thank for helping me pick out a name for it. ^.^ Thank you again, dear. ) Turns out King Joseph and his Queen has some great things to look forward to with ( Young ) Master Gray Eyes. (Hmm, I'll say he's in his 30's in this. ) and may have some doubts for the Count. ( Yes, God is The Leader Of The Life Thread. I thought it would be a great idea to not only keep him in the center of the project but to include him in it. ) ^.^ I had to put this up before The chapters page is uploaded. This will be a note that Dust, Jin and Cassius will find in Chapter 1 Resurrection.
Enjoy! ^.^
