“The French kings gave us Versailles” who is us?? Versailles was miles outside of Paris. They built their own private roads to avoid ever travelling through the cities because they were that uncomfortable with the filth and poverty on the streets. 😭 the Louvre was a public space for the people.

Tomb of James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose (1612 – 21 May 1650). He was a Scottish nobleman who supported Charles I during the English Civil War. He was later executed in 1650 by the English parliament. His head was displayed at the Old Toll Booth by St. Giles Cathedral for about 11 years. His other remains were scattered around Scotland. His remains were brought back together and he was interred in St. Giles Cathedral in 1661.

Montrose's right arm was never reunited with his body. The arm was first nailed to a gate in the city of Dundee. Then it made its way to England. Here's a photo.
