Kinnegar Scraggy Bay IPA (Picked up at Fresh - Smithfield in Dublin). A 2 of 4. Smells of some faint citrus and grain, but quite subdued overall. The body has some grassy hop presence and a round grain sweetness, but not a ton of bitterness, up front or in the finish.
Kinnegar Big Bunny East Coast IPA (Picked up at Fresh - Smithfield in Dublin). A 3 of 4. Smells as you’d expect given its appearance -- a big mix of tropical fruit and some candy-like sweetness int he nose. A little bit of yeasty qualities in the body alongside the massive hop presence, and fades to a firm clean bitterness after starting off sweet and fruity.
Brew #369: Kinnegar Special Swingletree Farmhouse Saison
Abv: 7%
Served : From the fridge
Aroma: Bread, herb, hint of apple and spice
Pour: Hazy gold with frothy white head
Taste: Yeasty wash with overtures of lime and clove spice. A slight citrus bite at the finish with pepper notes and predominantly sage on the aftertaste. This is a lovely, aromatic and very drinkable saison given the ABV.
Notes: 500ml bottle
Brew #308: Kinnegar High Glen Dry-Hopped Citrus Sour
Abv: 5%
Served: From the fridge
Aroma: Lemon zest, yeast, straw
Pour: Clouded yellow-amber with a white froth fizzing down to a skim
Taste: Rasping lemon wash with lots of wheat and grass notes too. Good dryness and biting cut at the finish. There’s some oats and grain in there too but the main whack is the lemon sour. Mouth is watery and spiky with medium to high carbonation. Aftertaste is lemon juice. Does what it says on the tin.
Notes: 440ml can
Great Beers & and an awesome brewery tour
Brew #224: Kinnegar Special Sour Grapes (Kettle Sour Series IV)
ABV: 5%
Served: From the fridge
Aroma: White wine, wheat
Pour: Opaque gold with disappearing white froth
Taste: Lovely grape fruitiness with an immediate cutting sourness and dry bite washing in after it. Hints of lime and grass. Nice dry aftertaste.
Notes: 500ml bottle
Brew #112: Kinnegar Limeburner Pale Ale
ABV: 4.7%
Served: From the fridge
Aroma: Bread
Pour: Pale yellow and opaque with a bubbly white head reducing to a skim
Taste: Light citrus notes with a bubbly mouthfeel fading into a fresh lime bite at the end. Does what it says on the tin or bottle in this case. Light, fresh and bubbly ale. Another solid addition to the Kinnegar line up. The citrus and lime flavours went really well with my hake dinner.
Notes: 500ml long neck bottle
