I’ve been thinking.
ok so we know by this point that kinger’s awareness/intelligence/general memory is tied to the light levels of the space he’s in. this has been shown time and time again.
and in the admin console room.
Even when the screen is on, It’s still dark. Easily as dark as in kingers fort, maybe even darker.
So why does everyone else(besides seemingly pomni) think that he wouldn’t be aware?
Especially Ragatha, who literally said “I think I get it now.” I know she’s probably not as sure about it as Pomni, but still.

Why does it seem like kinger isn’t aware? It’s dark. Given what we know about him and his intelligence. He should be just as aware as the rest of them.
but he isn’t.
And then.
When Jax presses the button to stay. The computer shines bright. Like kinda unnecessarily bright.
So it would make sense that kinger’s awareness/intelligence/general memory would be absolute dogshit right now. Possibly even worse than we have ever seen it. If the level of darkness=awareness works in reverse.
But he remembers someone from what is most likely anywhere from months to YEARS ago. And a specific event. From something that Caine didn’t even say outright, and only implied.
So either, kinger’s awareness/intelligence/general memory modifier isn’t working, or whatever happened to Scratch was so incredibly bad and scarring that it BYPASSED THE MODIFIERS.
and kinger bringing up scratch very visibly upset Caine. He was tripping over his words and left incredibly quickly.
Hell, I wouldn’t even be that surprised if Caine put extra modifiers over that specific memory of kinger, given his reaction.
So that raises the question of what the fuck happened to scratch that kinger would be able to remember it in a incredibly bright room
