Today would have been artist Jack Kirby’s 101st birthday. He had his hand on the creation of countless comic book characters and in many ways revolutionized sequential storytelling. A lot of artists and fans are sharing the King’s work today, and I thought I’d share one of my personal favorites, Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth. This character may not be as familiar with comic readers these days, but what started out as DC’s assignment to cash in on the popularity of Planet of The Apes, Kamandi turned into a real playground for Kirby’s imagination.
