Finishing off this kitchen. Just handles and plinth to fit. The new oak flooring is down and fairly flat, though there’s the odd bump where the floor transitions from solid to timber. I need to scribe a 2800mm length of plinth, it obviously doesn’t fit in position to scribe so I use a length of MDF to scribe and then use that as a template to mark the plinth. Have machined this monster of a board down to 36mm thick, and counter bored some fixing holes which will get plugged. It’s often the little things that make a difference on a project. Am currently working on a kitchen install, the builders still haven’t finished the room, but we couldn’t put back installation any further. So a slightly frustrating week was endured. But hey, it’s a first world problem. The design features some oak floating shelves, my client wanted the under cabinet lighting to run under the shelves too. We routed in some nice flush profile with a light diffuser to soften the glare. Very impressed with the way the flooring has gone down. It’s Karndean LVF in dark oak and has been laid in herringbone pattern and looks stunning. The sub floor was a mix of floorboards and concrete. The finished floor level has risen by just under 10mm. Templating for the worktops. We are using transparent corex sheets to get an accurate representation. The client has specified 30mm solid quartz. The top for the island will be machined from a piece and will weigh in at over 200kgs. Second fix electrics and plumbing. Luckily it’s a big space so there’s plenty of room for team to work in. We are now down to finishing touches, knobs and handles are on, some plinth to be fitted and then it’ll be ready for templating.
