I really love the fact that she wasn’t destroying or damaging the cherry blossom tree to get the sapling, but instead gently sorting through the branches to find it.
this implies that Purple’s nurturing these trees. She’s helping them grow instead of removing them altogether. Like her own little grove.
better still, she’s using those saplings to plant at her mom’s grave. Because, presumably, cherry blossoms were her mom’s favorite flower.
She’s caring for flowers that remind her of her mother and doesn’t want to harm them to respect her mom’s memory.
Here's a random list of the most commonly used designs/headcanons used for the AvA/M characters (from my personal observations) that nobody asked for :D
Okay yes. I know, I know - everyone has their own interpretation of the AvA/M characters. I've noticed that every artist in this fandom have their own unique designs for them, which is great.
But I've also noticed some similarities in the designs and hcs here and there. Here's a list of the most commonly used character designs and headcanons for the silly stick figures, and I'll list as many as I can remember or find.
(This list is based on different artist's designs as well as the many fanfictions I've read. I'll be using my personal interpretation of the characters in this post, such as gender and pronouns hope you don't mind <3)
The entire Color Gang
Battle scars from the Showdown where they all got stabbed
Friendship bracelets, with red, orange, yellow, blue, green, and sometimes purple beads
Messy, unbrushed and untamable hair (I love this one)
Are siblings, with Orange being the adopted one and Purple being and Honorable Member
The Second Coming/Orange
He almost always has or wears something green to represent his powers (despite him not remembering how to use them at all) such as a green strand of hair, a green bracelet, or green eyes
He's often wearing something to represent Alan, too - most commonly a small cursor pendant or a cursor logo on his shirt
Has an artist glove
Wearing comfortable-looking clothes so he can crash and sleep whenever he needs to
Narocleptic or has a sleeping disorder
Also Alan's "favorite child"
Adores every single one of his creations (like Bob)
Red
85% of the time he's a furry/part furry
Cat ears (or his hair is styled to look like cat ears)
He's always wearing his yellow ribbon from Monster School (despite the fact that he actually gave his ribbon to the Warden in episode 30)
Loves his piggy
Something to represent Monster School - a jacket, a jersey, a hat, etc
Glowing eye/eyes from when he was possessed by Herobrine (twice)
Still gets nightmares from when he was possessed
Is the youngest or one of the youngest sticks of the group
Multiple bandages or band-aids over his arms and legs because he takes care of animals
Blue
Being a foodie (it's so cute, I love seeing a chubby Blue)
Having burns/chronic pains on his legs from when he fell in the lava in the Piglin War episode (and having his legs covered completely to hide the burns and scars)
Wearing a skirt ("because it's comfy" is the main reason, which I can understand because of his burns ((poor baby))
Keeps his chronic pains a secret because he doesn't want to worry anyone, but of course, they eventually find out
Netherwart or netherwart particles strewn in his hair
Having a sweet smile or countenance (despite the fact that he's insanely brutal when he fights)
Having potions attached to his waist or belt
Wears a scarf
Being the healer, doctor, and "Mom" friend of the group because that's just how he is
Green
Being a Spanish-speaking diva, mainly because of the Matador short (YES, I'm all for this one)
Being black or dark-skinned (because he's DJ's boi)
Almost always wearing his headphones even though we hardly see him with headphones anymore
Dreadlocks
Wearing something purple-colored like a bracelet, necklace, or hairtie to match with Purple as a sign of their friendship (or romantic relationship)
Something music note-related on his clothes or a small music note tattoo

Glasses 👍🏼
Purple
Almost always wearing her hair in a braid
Regal-looking clothes, despite not being a ruler of a village anymore
Wearing something green-colored like a bracelet, necklace, or hairtie to match with Green as a sign of their friendship (or romantic relationship)
Is often associated with cherry blossoms - wears a small flower in her hair, has one in her lapel or breast pocket, or wears a small pendant
Visits her mama's grave often
Also sometimes given music note patterns on her clothing
Everyone gives her different nationalities, but most commonly British, French, or Japanese (sometimes all three)
Calls King Orange/Mango "Dad" after AvM 30
King Orange
T u r t l e n e c k s w e a t e r
Majestic hair (we all love a beautiful king)
Handsome and regal in his King uniform, but post-AvM 30, he's just a normal-looking guy (but still with majestic hair)
Has back problems
Extremely overprotective of his kids
Used to be or is good friends with Corn Dog Guy
Why are all of his designs legit so fineeee (I'm not simping, it's just a fact)
The Chosen One
Emo (I'm being serious)
Red eyes while he was the Chosen One, and normal eyes while he's No One
Can't swim without his powers
Has multiple battle scars from the Showdown

Is Aroace/Aromantic
Has a crush on/is a huge fan of Freedom Guy
Arachnophobic
Is Orange's older brother, but their relationship is complicated
Non-verbal or partially non-verbal
Eats like a starving man every single time he's given food
The Dark Lord
Also has (very ugly) battle scars, especially after getting absolutely destroyed after the Showdown
His design has gradually changed from a handsome manipulative charming villain to a disgusting, gory, virus-looking but equally handsome monster from the depths
Is charming but hateful
Often has a pet ViraBot sitting on his shoulder or following him around (and the ViraBot's name is Ted, trust me)
Black eyes, red pupils (peak design tbh)
Has spider legs coming out of his back or attached to his outfit
Victim/H4CK3R
Wearing something cyan or light blue, even before his transformation to H4CK3R (like a cyan tie)
Emo (still being serious)
Workaholic (especially after Mitsi's death)
Used to be besties with Agent but now hates everyone and everything (except for his dead wife)
Also non-verbal or partially non-verbal, or has a speech problem like stuttering (which slowly dissapates during his time with Misti)
Isn't an insomniac, but never sleeps
Has a smoking problem
Mitsi (I only have a few for her but I love her)
Knows how to deal with money despite Vic being paranoid over it
Loves flowers and has a garden, often with lilies or chrysanthemums
The Absolute Authority of RocketCorp but still the sweetest angel alive
Will drag Vic away from his desk and force him to rest when he's been working too much (which is actually adorable
Honorable mention for Vic and Mitsi: They're married and have a pet sheep which is basically their child <3 (and Agent is the super awesome third wheel)
The Mercenaries (Agent Smith, Lasco/Primal, Ballista, and Hazard)
Agent has a crush on Primal or vice versa
Agent's design is also fineeee (still not simping, just speaking facts)
Primal is a female 90% of the time
Ballista has SERIOUS anger issues, even over the smallest things
Hazard is either a coffee-holic or hates coffee, nothing in between
Agent likes tea
Agent looking at the other mercs and going "why on earth did I ever think it was a good idea to hire these people"
The mercenaries have a childish, sibling relationship with one another, and Agent is the older brother
Primal and Hazard constantly make fun of Ballista for being short
Yes, you read that right. Purple and cherry blossoms. (Im so normal about it.)
I feel like this detail is extremely overlooked in Alan's series. While I see it a bit in fanart and fanfiction, I rarely see the fandom talking about it. Which isn't bad obviously.
But I think this tiny detail is and will be significant - especially after the release of AvM 37.
First: there's a pattern with Purple. And it's very consistent.
In all the seasons (not including Actual Shorts) involving Purple, there's a story to tell about a character who's lost so much, so much that she's trying her very hardest to gain whatever she's lost back again.
The consistent pattern I'm trying to point out is loving/gaining, losing, loving/gaining, losing, and so on.
First, she loved her parents. Then, she lost her parents. (Not just Orchid, keep in mind. She lost Navy too - permanently, as far as I can tell.)
Then, the Color Gang's (Green and Blue specifically) trust was gained. And quickly lost.
League of Legends came along. She gained the trust of the Color Gang again.
The events of AvM season three happened. She yet again lost the trust of the Color Gang. But then, they (the Color Gang, specifically, Green) gave her the best, most valuable gift one person give to the other - forgiveness. Therefore, she loved yet again and gained their love, trust, and respect, and even moved in with King.
Season five is happening now...who (but Alan and the team obviously) knows how this pattern could continue...
So, what does this have to do with cherry blossoms???
I did some research (wow yes I did research for a silly billy analysis post) about the meaning of cherry blossoms.
There's two sides to the flower - one positive, one negative. Here's the negative side:
"...Fleeting nature of life, beauty, and love... EASILY SHATTERING...."
Sounds awfully familiar.
And, here's the positive side.
"New beginnings, hope, and renewal...love, affection, and friendship..."
INTERESTING....
So, in short: Cherry blossoms are very relevent and significant to Purple's character. In fact, they have nearly everything to do with Purple's character.
She loves. She loses. Loves again...loses once more.
New beginnings. Fleeting...love. Hope. Easily shattered.
Then I figured, that's why she's trying so hard to be a good friend, especially in AvM 37. She can't bear to lose the first people who have ever shown her true forgiveness and love.
and then, AS IF THE SYMBOLISM COULDN'T GET WORSE - where exactly did Yellow settle on putting their base in AvM 37??
Okay guys, can we like, stop for a second and appreciate this little sheep?
I'm assuming she's Mitsi's, and now Victim's, pet. For now, I'm gonna call her Petunia. (Its the name I gave her in one of my fics.)
So I watched AvA 11 (yes, again) to catch moments with the sheep, and if you watch it closely enough, she's in almost all of these little moments in the story:
When Victim and Mitsi first arrive at the village,
In these silly moments with Mitsi, Victim, and the tractor (along with a few other sheep),
Some sweet moments with Victim and Mitsi as they spend some time together,
During the dance of the four year anniversary celebration for Rocket,
And even a brief second as Agent returns from Newgrounds without Mitsi. Here, she lets out a sad little bleat when she realizes Mitsi isn't there anymore.
>>this part absolutely breaks my heart every single time - when the beloved pet starts to mourn, I start to have hysterics :(
And in AvA 12, we learn that Petunia even has her own little room in the RocketCorp facility. This might not be significant, but can I say that that's just plain adorable? Not to mention heartbreaking?
So, the sheep's always been there. Probably even longer than Agent has. She's seen every part of Victim and Mitsi's relationship - again, more than Agent has. She's been a part of their lives since she was a little baby lamb.
And, this might sound silly, but I'm guessing Victim and Mitsi took in this little animal as their own daughter.
So this leads me to believe that Petunia's one of the only things Victim has to preserve Mitsi's memory.
And if something happens to that sheep, I'm actually gonna go hysterical.
Anyways, while writing this, I made these little doodles in honor of the sheep cuz she deserves more appreciation <3
THEORIES ABOUT AVA ARE ACTUALLY MAKING MY HEAD EXPLODE
okay so this doesn't have much to do with the world building of the series this time but, I think it is definitely a theory worth sharing.
Ive been thinking a lot about RocketCorp - the facility, the atmosphere, the employees, everything. Especially the clone workers, which I think is rather ominous too.
Why is the facility so isolated? Why is it so restricted? Why is it so far away from civilization? And most importantly...what's it for now?
Well, there are a few theories concerning RocketCorp - too few, in fact, which is why I really need to dig in deeper about this company. Let's start with a basic timeline (which is very important for this analysis).
2007 - So, as all us AvA fans probably know by now, RocketCorp started off as a cute little tech and fix-it shop, founded by Victim and Mitsi in the eleventh episode after Victim fixes the little village's windmill.
I'm not 100% sure why Victim and Mitsi decided to start this business - as far as I can tell, life was nice and peaceful before they foundedd RocketCorp. My money's on because they cared about the economy and so the civilians could make a living.
Anyways, in just the span of four years, the little shop eventually grew into a greater, more popular business and job site, with Mitsi standing proud as CEO and Victim at her side.
2011 - The collapse, the disappearance, and the devastation that came with the Newgrounds attack also brought grief and mourning to RocketCorp and probably the rest of the town - the death of Mitsi.
At this point, Victim completely drowns in grief. Not only did he lose his Mitsi, his right hand, but he lost himself too, eventually being so enraged by grief that he vows to hunt down the people who took everything from him.
Aaaand here's where my theory comes in finally. I'm just gonna dive right in.
So we know that the two hollow headed stick figures who terrorized the Internet - the Chosen One and the Dark Lord - look incredibly similar to their estranged brother, Victim.
It doesn't take long for a whole bunch of people to figure that out, doesn't it? Word spreads fast...and all of a sudden, Victim was the bad guy.
Again, this is just an extremely far-fetched theory, so, prove me wrong at this. But.
What if everyone - stick figures, animations, etc - are actually now afraid of Victim.
I don't mean they fear him or respect him as their authority or boss - I mean cold, spine-chilling shivering fear whenever his name is mentioned.
Why do I say this? Well, simply put, all four of the hollow heads look very similar. And reputation-destroying rumors spread fast.
Stick figures across the Outernet could easily assume Victim had something to do with the Newgrounds attack - and fearing this, people left him. Employees, apprentices, everyone, left RocketCorp. All except for two: Agent and that one gray worker. (Oh, and Mitsi's sheep.)
This could be the reason these ↓ stick figures don't talk to the CG - because they lost their trust in people who look different from them.
Eventually, RocketCorp shut its doors.
Victim shut his doors.
There's more to Victim's anger than grief. He's angry, enraged, one might say hateful, at the entire world; for distrusting and leaving him when he needed them most, when he needed people to help him in his grief after losing Mitsi. So, he eventually lost trust in everyone and shut himself out completely.
In this time, he concocted a plan to get back at the Animator and the Chosen One for what they'd done to him.
But, what if, it's not just revenge? What if it's a way to prove himself to the people of the Outernet that he, in fact, can be trusted. What if it's a way to prove that he had nothing to do with the Newgrounds attack? What if it's a way to clear is name - in fact, what if it's a way to change his name completely?
So, in short:
RocketCorp exists as a business not only to build Victim's revenge against the Animator and The Chosen One and get Mitsi back, but also to rebuild his reputation back up as the trusted stick figure everyone once knew.
Again, this is extremely far-fetched and I could be overthinking this, but it makes sense. And if it goes the way I think it's going, then I fear this could end very badly.
I was watching AvM 35 (Note Block Concert) with my little siblings and noticed that a bunch of characters from past seasons (mostly season 3) are in the audience. I'm not sure if anyone's pointed this out yet, so why not make an analysis post about it?
So welcome to
Note Block Concert: Audience Analysis
⬇ As the episode begins and Green takes his first bow, you can see that one or some of Blue's piglin friends were invited, there's a withered skeleton from Monster School, and a skeleton with an arm wrapped around... The Witch...? for some reason...??
(To be honest I wasn't expecting the gang to invite the Witch to their concert. Perhaps they made amends or something.)
And then - recognize those zombies in the back, behind the Witch? Those are none other than the singing zombies from AvM 29. (The baby zombie is barely visible but he's there with the rest of his buddies.)
A few more minutes into the episode, we can see that Reuben (Red's pig) was also invited. And he brought his family, a callback to "Piggy Love - and Actual Short," when he got married. (He apparently er, had more kids.)
Sitting in front of Reuben and his family we can also see a cow, a dog, a fox, and a sheep. I'm just theorizing here, but I think it's safe to say those are the same singing animals that Green met in Note Block Universe.
There are plenty more chameos that we can see in the episode that you might miss if you weren't paying attention, especially the quick scene cuts during the panic when the silverfish were invading the auditorium.
You can see Fletcher, one of the villagers in the Raid episode that Blue and Yellow befriended. I think it's safe to assume that Farmer and Fisher were invited as well.
Hey, look, there's the wandering trader and one of his beatboxing llamas that Green encountered in AvM 29. (I wonder why he invited him.)
And look, Red invited some Monster School buddies. Not to mention, the Yellow Team - Spider, Skellington, and Endie - are all sitting beside each other. I love that it implies that they're still best friends and are there to show Red their support.
Also a minute detail that Warden is here too, but he's not panicking because he can't see anything lol.
These parrots look familiar. ⬇
They could be the same birds that Red had from Texture Pack, which is a crazy callback. I could be wrong, but hey, it's just a theory.
Did I miss anything? If so please point them out hehe! Thanks <3
King Orange and Purple also made it, which everyone already knows. (I couldn't put another picture here sobs)
Anyway, those are some extremely quick, minor details and cameos, but I appreciate the attention to all of the episodes. Big W for Alan and the team.
Every single time i watch Alan Becker, some new detail pops out at me that I'd never noticed before.
That's why I never get tired of watching his animations.
I specifically love paying attention to the world building. Especially Stick City. From what I can see, this little city isn't much different from the ones we live in today.
He's dancing :3
Watching "Wanted" (AvA 9) frame by frame showed me some extremely cool details - the buildings, such as banks, cafes, shops, and restaurants, the amazingly detailed cars, the road signs, and traffic lights.
Most of the signs I can't read because they were too blurry, but I did get a few words out - Blenders (a coffee shop, probably. And a really cool reference to Blender 3D, the animation software the animators used for the models. Can't tell if this was intentional but that's pretty cool), as well as "stickly driply" (a clothing shop I'm assuming) and "CTRL+V" (copy and paste???).
↑ Corn Dog Guy has a competitor too - theres a random dude selling pretzels here. Wonder if we'll see more of them.
Moving on to "The Box" (AvA 10) , we're introduced to another little town, probably located just outside Stick City. Not sure what it's called, but I'm gonna call it "Sunny Side" cuz it seems fitting.
I love this adorable little town and the adorable little people. (Different animations live here, by the way - differently designed stick figures. Is this significant??)
Not much to say about this town, except I absolutely adore the attention to detail. Everything's just perfect.
ROCKETCORP. Oh my goodness, I can't explain how much I absolutely LOVE THIS FACILITY. The insane detail has me giggling all over like - this is incredible. (Not to mention that little room they keep for Mitsi's sheep. That's just plain adorable.)
↑ Also love this room Blue walks into during "HACKER" (AvA 12). I wonder what's in there. This animation team has a way to get you digging into detail and really pay close attention, huh.
I won't go into too much detail about RocketCorp in this post, but I might in a later post. There's so many things I love about this entire world of the Outernet it's too much to talk about in just one little post.
↑ Also gotta love this cute little village that Victim and Mitsi live in. The townsfolk are adorable too. (Very polite and welcoming as well! They invited Victim is even though he's different from them and he demolished their windmill. That's so sweet ngl.) Straight out of a Disney movie am I right.
Like I said, I won't go into way too much detail, but the attention to the world building in AvA is absolutely incredible.
Something you probably wouldn't expect from a series about stick figures.
