Noel: Liam was driving around the [Knebworth] site at about 9 o'clock this morning, off his head with his, uh... with his fiancée, in a golf buggy, chanting some uh... I don't know.
Jo: Oh, right!
Jo: Can you see yourself as best man at some point?
Noel: I suppose I'll have to be, yeah. Erm... He was asking me that the other day, he was going, will you be the best man. So I said, yeah.
Jo: So there is going to be a wedding then? It's not just one of those engagements for—
Noel (interrupts): You'll have to ask them two, really. But I would imagine sooner or later there will be.
prefame liam gallagher x fem reader! warnings: lots of cute fluff, language, angst!
word count: 2.3k, kind of like a part two to my last liam fic, "always." this is the one where her mother finds out. (u don't need to read the last one to understand, everything is pretty transparent! if you'd like to read, the link to the first part is here!)
she sat in her bed, crying her heart out. and not because of a test grade, or a fight with her friend, a loss at her soccer game, no. it was because of liam gallagher. a few minutes ago he was standing in her living room, receiving a lecture from her mother about how they shouldn’t be sneaking out together this late at night.
𝜗𝜚⋆
she smacked her palm over liam's mouth, trying to get him to be quiet as they walked up the steps to her front porch. he was in front of her, mumbling something she couldn’t make out as he stumbled backwards. it was past one in the morning. the moonlight reflected on her soft skin, her eyes glistening with her radiant smile.
“what if my mother hears you?” she managed to get out through giggles as she pushed him against the wall.
“she won’t” he promised, pulling her by her waist, twisting her body so she could rest on the wall beside her front door. she gave him a soft smile, a blush creeping up her cheeks. its a good thing liam couldn’t see how pink her face was at this time of night, because he would have made fun of her for it.
he looked for her eyes in the dark night, gently leaning in and brushing their lips together. she smiled, unable to help it. when he connected their lips, his hand came up to hold the wall beside her, and a light flicked on. liam stilled, both of them squinting their eyes from the bright light their eyes were not quite used to yet.
“shit” he whispered.
she squeezed her eyes shut, trapped between liam against the wall.
“that goddamn sensor” she grumbled.
“how do i shut it off?” he hesitated.
“you can’t. it's motion activated.” she sighed.
his expression dropped.
all of a sudden, the front door swung open. liam froze, still in front of her, their noses touching. her mother walked outside, clutching her sweater from the cold night breeze. she turned her head, expecting the sensor to have gone off because of an animal of some sort. her eyes widened at the sight of her daughter beside her against the wall, tangled in liam’s chest.
“y/n?” she asked in a surprised tone.
maybe she was dreaming. then, her brows furrowed, eyes running back and forth at the sight in front of her. not just any boy, liam gallagher. the trouble maker. her and liam looked like they saw a ghost, their eyeballs wide with fear. liam gave up. he groaned, dropping his head into the crook of her neck.
her expression turned angry, realizing everything.
“get inside.” she pointed a stern finger inside the house, her other hand on her hip.
liam and her looked at each other, and then back at her mother. if she went inside that house, she would be dead by sunrise. liam patted her shoulder, then turned on his feet to make his way down the steps. after y/n stepped inside, her mother’s concerned face didn’t change. she stared her down, giving her looks that could mean one million things.
you are so grounded.
why were you out so late?
how did you leave the house?
where did you even go?
when were you going to tell me you were hanging out with the worst boy in school?
just wait till your father hears about this.
her arms were embarrassingly crossed over her chest, ready for her punishment. this was so embarrassing, especially because liam was there. he had just learned how cool she was, taking her out to the local pub and making sure they had a great time together.
her mother almost forgot about the boy, already halfway down the steps, ready to run.
“excuse me, young man?” her mother crossed her arms over her chest.
liam stopped in his tracks, closing his eyes. he was also ready for his punishment. he took a deep breath, and swung his head around with a big grin on his face. always happy, he was.
“yes, ma’am?” he sang.
y/n shut her eyes. she did not want to know how this would go down. would somebody just kill her?
her mother did not look as happy as liam.
“where do you think you're off to? get inside.” she announced.
liam’s grin was swept right off his face, and he walked back up the steps, into her house.
her mother pulled her jacket sleeve, and y/n groaned.
“what are you doing?” she argued.
“sit down, young lady.” her mother grunted.
she pouted, crossing her arms on the couch.
“you too.” she pointed to liam.
liam slumped down next to her, and they both looked like two toddlers who got caught red handed stealing from a candy store. her mother tapped her finger on her arms, trying to find the words. while her mother tapped her foot on the carpet aggressively, liam decided to step in. he put his hand up as a defense technique, trying to calm her mother down.
“listen, ma’am, whatever it is- we can explain.” he reassured her.
y/n shot him a look. was he serious? there was nothing about this that they could explain. they were out past her curfew at the pub, alone with a boy and some of his friends, and she snuck out. not to mention, her mother catching them red handed.
“can you?” her mother shot back.
liam went silent.
“ma, i swear it wasn-” she started.
“you know you shouldn’t be out that late. why in the world would you leave the house? where did you even go?” her mother talked with her hands. a lot. it expressed all of her built up anger.
“ma, don’t shout, it’s late.” she tried to calm her down.
“don’t you tell me to be quiet!” her mother backfired.
y/n and liam both jumped in their seats.
“ma’am- can i explain?-” liam started, sitting up in his seat.
“i’ve heard enough from you.” her mother placed a palm in front of liam's face.
he furrowed his eyebrows.
“young lady, talk. if he can explain, so can you.” her mother crossed her arms.
her eyes widened. why hadn’t she been murdered yet? this was too embarrassing. her secret boyfriend was sitting in her living room, facing a punishment from her mother.
“uh…” she hesitated, looking down at her lap.
“we went to the pub, ma.” she admitted, squeezing her eyes shut.
her mother nodded slowly. “go on.”
“i know it’s late. i’m sorry, we lost track of time.” she lied.
of course they didn’t lose track of time. she checked her watch every five minutes after they left, and always pushed for one more hour each time liam settled for another cigarette and placed a sweet arm around her shoulder.
“never. again. do you hear me?” her mother gritted through her teeth.
the pair on the couch nodded frantically. liam saluted.
“yea, miss. never again. got it.” he nodded.
she side-eyed liam, giving him a rough nudge on the arm. did he seriously think he was getting out of this?
“ouch!” he glared at her.
“stop being such a kiss ass.” she grumbled through her teeth.
gratefully, her mother didn’t hear as she tried to think. but liam did, returning an angry look.
“i’m telling your mother about this, young man.” her mother lifted a brow.
liam’s eyes widened.
“oh, come on! it was one time. she’ll twist me arm! and...your daughter just hit me there-” he scrambled, looking for useless excuses.
“well what about i phone her about it right now, eh?” her mother threatened.
that shut him up.
“thought so.” her mother whispered.
liam sunk back on the sofa, planning his funeral as well.
“ma, please don’t tell peggy. he really can’t get in trouble anymore.” she tried to convince her.
“i wonder why that is” her mother paced back and forth.
“ma.” she said louder.
that got her mother’s attention.
“if you cared, you’d understand. he’s trying to be better, okay?” she said.
“don’t do it, it’s already as bad as it can get.” she begged.
her mother squinted at them, her gaze travelling between her and liam.
“fine.” she grumbled.
“i don’t want to see you ‘round here, understand me?” her mother leaned in close to liam, pointing a finger at his chest.
he nodded frantically.
“i got it.” he squeaked out.
“good.” her mother said.
“go home, liam." she added.
y/n stayed quiet on the couch, her eyes closed half the time.
“say goodbye. he’s not coming back here.” her mother announced, leaving to go into the kitchen.
she tried to hold back tears on the verge of falling, and liam offered out his hand. she took it, slowly lifting off the couch. they walked to the front door, carefully opening it. she turned back to liam, her eyes glossy and wet with tears.
“don’t cry. i’ll be back, y’know me.” he smirked.
she huffed a laugh, but continued to cry.
“shh…” he pulled her in for a hug, kissing the tears away.
“i’ll see you in school.” he rubbed her back one last time, leaving out the front door.
𝜗𝜚⋆
she sat in her bed, slowly shaking. she wanted liam to hold her, but now she was banned from seeing him. she couldn’t wait to see his bright face again. he always made her laugh or smile, even when she was at her lowest.
𝜗𝜚⋆
on saturday morning, the doorbell rang. she was only in her tiny sleep shorts and an oversized t-shirt. her mother was working late, running a shift at the hospital. her messy bun was almost falling out of her hair, and her eyelashes perked up in different places. she had a good sleep, especially after she’d been crying. she rolled in her bed, groaning as she heard the doorbell ring again.
“ma! the door!” she yelled out, smacking a hand against her mattress.
then, her head perked up, remembering she was alone at home. she groaned, trudging out of bed. she padded across the floor, rushing downstairs as she heard the doorbell ring yet again.
“Jesus, i’m coming!” she yelled, aggressively swinging the door open.
she froze. it was liam. as expected, he was wearing a smug grin on his face.
“it’s eight on a saturday. what are you doing here?” she grumbled, her face relaxed.
then, she lifted a brow, confused as to why his gaze travelled down her body as he giggled.
she was barefoot. her hair was messy. she was wearing her house clothes.
“i look like shit” she moaned, running a hand down her face.
“no you don’t, you look cute.” liam cooed, inviting himself inside.
she opened her eyes, giving him a small smile.
“why are you here? you know if ma comes home i'm dead.” she placed her hands on her hips.
“i know, i know.” he laughed.
“i’m not even joking, anymore- she kept me up a few minutes after you left- we are both dead if she finds you inside her house-” she started, but was shortly cut off by liam’s lips.
“shh.” he mumbled, continuing to kiss her.
she was startled, but soon melted into the kiss.
“you talk wayyy too much.” liam giggled, continuing to kiss her as his hands slid to her cheeks.
“shut it.” she bit back, (literally) she took his bottom lip into her mouth, making him giggle even more.
“okay, i'm serious. we can’t be doing this, li.” she pulled away, her fingers twisting with anxiety.
“chillll….” he nuzzled his nose against hers, grabbing her waist, making her stomach flutter.
“no! you said that last time and mark caught us!” she tried to wiggle out of his grip.
he peppered kisses all over her face, making her laugh even louder. “liam, stop!” she smiled.
when his lips pulled away, his hands never left her waist. she placed a steady hand on his chest, patting it lightly.
“alright, so what, you came here to make out with me?” she asked.
“mmm, part of the reason…” he hummed.
“oh yeah?” she chuckled.
“yes, but first,” he started, pulling out a small white box from his jacket pocket.
she furrowed her brows as he opened the box, but her confused expression soon faltered when a beautiful necklace was revealed. it was a golden heart, sitting so simple and delicate on the small pillow inside the box. her mouth parted, clearly surprised and still a bit puzzled as to why he would do this. nobody ever did anything this nice for her.
“oh my gosh. liam- this is the sweetest thing anyone’s ever done for me.” she stammered.
“i saw it at the shop a few days back. it reminded me of you- you know, ya got a big heart an stuff.” he shrugged like it was nothing.
a cute smile wiped over her face, and she grabbed liam for a tight embrace.
“i know ur ma said i cant hang around here no more, so i figured id give it to ya now. it was supposed to be your birthday gift.” he confessed.
“liam.” she sighed, shaking her head.
“it’s beautiful. i love it.” she said, handing him the necklace so he could put it on her. she swiped her hair to one side of her face, giving him space to clasp the chain. the swift brush of his fingers across her neck gave her butterflies- she would miss this.
“maybe if i show her this, she’ll change her mind.” she bit her lip, giving him a soft kiss on the cheek.
“you give me a call.” liam nodded.
“i will.” she smiled.
“i gotta go before the police get here.” liam joked about her mother.
she laughed in return, and he squeezed her waist.
“i’ll see you at school.” she kissed his jaw.
“and i'll find a way to see you before then.” he grinned, walking out the door.
she giggled, closing her front door. she pressed her back against the wood, sighing. how could her mother ever prevent him from seeing her? he was too good.
I wonder how big of a role this documentary played in their reunion. Noel was feeling so emotional about it.
The best thing in it is Liam. Amazing, absolutely amazing.
— 28/06/2021 Matt Morgan Podcast
I did get quite emotional watching it. Liam is at his absolute peak, looks great, great air, with great clothes, the sound is amazing. There's one guy, I almost choked up because he was saying, 'I've seen the two brothers and they were like me and my brother...' And, of course, his brother's dead now and all that, and he's kind of going on. And it really is kind of tugs at the heartstrings.

Liam is very very very very good in it. He’s at his absolute peak.

It took me a long time to realize that… It only.. it kind of dawned on me recently watching the knebworth thing. It’s like at Liam’s peak is when Oasis was at its peak, and that’s no coincidence…It took me a long time to realize that.
