honestly tho bloodbound and nightbound of choices fame handled the supernatural vs human thing way better and with more nuance than the cws supernatural ever could. explicitly positioning vampires as sympathetic and the heroes of the story while the institution that wanted to wipe them out was framed as unambiguously evil? and nightbound expanding the supernatural world to all kinds of creatures while also making nighthunters a thing without the white supremacist fantasy? when your 15 season long television show is outwritten by a free to play mobile game where you can make your mc a man and romance the dean winchester copy

When someone says they just 'don't see it' or 'for them' they see Dean as straight, the instinct is to go back and forth with gifs or videos of Dean getting nervous around Dr. Sexy or Lawless, to send clips of Castiel's I love yous or Dean in Mourning and just...

That's not really "it"? because "IT™" is something I can't show in a gif. "IT™" is not a single instance of Dean getting flustered or watching a man's ass as he walks away.

There's just too much.

There is too much queercoding, Too many pieces of set dec, Too much femme coding, Too many instances of hayes era film references, There are too many under-the-radar deep dive references to queer culture, There are too many 'mistaken for gay' jokes, There are too many 'not my type' 'I don't swing that way' gut reactions, There are too many story parallels to canon couples, There are too many 'interesting' scene transitions, There are too many bizarre episode recaps, There is Just. Too. Much.™ for it to have all been unintentional.

The character was based on queer people, both real and fictional.

Kripke might not have intentionally written Dean Winchester to be bisexual, but he is, & the writers who came after him clearly did.

Literally the first time they've met

I don't know if Kripke did this on purpose or just didn't think anything through, but Castiel is pulling a Dean meta within the first minute of meeting him for the first time.

"This is your problem Dean, you have no faith"

And there are only two explanations

Castiel has been observing Dean, and knew him before Dean even went to hell

Castiel touched Dean's very soul when he raised him from perdition & returned his soul into his newly-formed body

Eric Kripke is such a misogynistic homophobic bastard that he took a fundamentally queer story and he tried to straighten by adding on his own additional layers of misogyny and homophobia and Supernaturals own special brand of toxic masculinity, together with the queer writers who came after him, manifested the most accurate representation of the closeted bisexual character in television history

So that when queer writers eventually took over, the characters were already fundamentally queer, so when the queer writers eventually took over, that shit just became plot

They meta'd the metameta and then made a meta of it and then wrote a meta story about that meta.
