"Words", original poem

There are words begging to be sung

They burn in my brain and bruise my lungs

They echo in my mind and skitter around my skull

And though they quiet, they refuse to dull

But they aren't in a language of words

They are fluid as a mood and free as a bird

I have words burning through my heart

With no clear end, and no defined start

They hit walls and bumble around my soul

Never once beginning to lull

These vague noises that defy vocal chords

Promise to persist until they're roared
