Idk which meme this is for, so both!

How I feel about this character: Luigi is the character that I relate the most with in the Mario universe, based on personality. So yeah, I totally love him for that! Any Super Mario game without Luigi around feels like it’s missing a major component, which is rare with recent titles, but happened more often with early titles (even Super Mario 64). I think the only reason I like other characters more than Luigi is solely because I identify with him, so I feel a little narcissistic calling him my top favorite, and even then, I still like other qualities in other characters too. Overall, great character, one of my favorites ever, and could go solo, but I like him best as Mario’s tagalong twin.All the people I ship romantically with this character: Everyone, probably. I joke, but a lot is accurate. Let’s see: Daisy, Rosalina, Peach, Waluigi, Peasley, Bowser, and Yoshi (yay). Those are just the major characters…and Prince Peasley, lol. I don’t think Luigi/Yoshi really exists, but guess who’s writing it?! So it does now, haha. I’ve seen fanfics and remember a cartoon episode that pairs him with Wendy O. Koopa, so…maybe that, but I don’t gravitate to it, since I haven’t read the fanfics yet and the relationship from the episode leaves me with questions.My non-romantic OTP for this character: Mario, duh. They have a great, empathetic bond as siblings, and I like to think they’re really close with each other. Luigi can act like Mario’s motivation, as a direct example of the people that he needs to protect. Likewise, Mario is kind of Luigi’s idol, as he aspires to be a little more like his heroic brother.Along with that, I typically feel like Luigi has a strong friendship with whoever he doesn’t get paired up with. For example, if someone headcanons that Luigi should date Rosalina, I’d imagine he’d still be good friends with Daisy and Peach. It probably varies based on individual relations, but you get the idea.My unpopular opinion about this character: Most people love that Luigi is this oddball neglected character, with even Nintendo having a whole year dedicated to recognizing him. I disagree and feel that he is given adequate attention, obviously more as of late than in the past. Then again, more Luigi never bothered me, so…yeah.There’s also this weird, misguided notion that Luigi has resentment towards Mario, always being stuck in his shadow and always “player number 2” when with his older twin. It’s practically canon that Luigi shies away from the spotlight, but I guess most people still like to think he holds a degree of hostility toward Mario. I call that bogus and have debatably the less popular opinion that they rarely have issues with that, and that Mario is pretty sensitive to Luigi’s received recognition, hence why he forces Luigi along with him on some adventures. Others, Luigi goes along to help make sure Mario comes back alive. (Pretty sure that it’s not unpopular per say, but I see too many “joke/comedic” material that makes Luigi out to harbor this negativity, and some people take that seriously, so…there, counterpoint, lol.)One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I have no idea how, but I’d like a canon moment of Luigi leading. Technically, New Super Luigi U handles that, but it feels like…I don’t know, not as much for standing out? And if Luigi’s Mansion games are canon, he’s still technically not in charge, as E. Gadd is the one that directs Luigi across the manors that he needs to cleanse of ghosts. Not that Luigi is typically a character to strive for or go after the leadership role, but I’d like to see how he handles it, and not because Mario is missing. It’d be cool to see the reverse of that, having Mario follow Luigi for some reason. And it doesn’t need to be for the whole game either, just a segment for him. No idea how, but it’s a thought that I like.

People look down on him, I get the same. Being friends makes the most sense, maybe best friends if we relate that well.)

I could go on, but that should suffice. Bottom line: Luigi is great!

New Parents Edition: Bowsario (Had to, couldn't help it)

Yes…yes…mwahahAHAHAHA! (This is if they hypothetically had a kid of their own. Because yes.)

who panics over everything? Mario, because he has no idea how to parent.who lives on google and webmd to look up everything the baby does? Mario, because he must know everything he does not understand.who’s on the fence about vaccination? Bowser, at least until Mario explains it to him a few times.who bothers the doctor at 3 AM? Bowser, and forces the doctor to accept calls from the king.who nudges the other in the middle of the night to go handle the baby? Mario, because he knows Bowser is better at it.who pretends to be asleep when the baby is screaming? Bowser, because he just really needs to rest.who takes pictures and videos of everything? Both, because precious memories are precious for both of them.who accidentally drops the baby? (let’s be real: it happens) Bowser, actually. Mario would be way to uptight to let it happen, while Bowser would be relaxed enough to slip up.who has more trouble adjusting to parenthood? Mario, because first time parenting is harder than he could fathom.who falls asleep with the baby on their chest? Bowser, who wouldn’t even flinch from the extra weight.who plays airplane with the baby and ends up with puke on their face? (alternatively: in their mouth) Mario, since Bowser would have a better idea of when to duck and dodge.who gets overwhelmed the easiest? Mario, because first time stuff is harder.who scalds themselves when testing the bottle temperature on their wrist? Bowser, probably. He’d try showing off how easy it is to Mario, wouldn’t pay attention, and sizzle. (The king lives around lava…and still gets burned.)who dresses the baby up in funny outfits? Bowser, with a horrible fashion sense in spite of his experience. Mario can help fix it, most days.who rocks the baby to sleep while singing to them? Mario, in one of the areas that he outclasses Bowser. Bonus, because they’d both love hearing him sing, and Mario could lull everyone to sleep.who accidentally adds too much soap to the bath so the baby ends up in a sea of bubbles? Mario, and it’s “accidentally;” he has a secret enjoyment of playing with bubbles, and still manages to find the kid through them.who lets the baby try/eat/drink anything and everything they have? Bowser, who’s relaxed to Mario’s uptight, by the book tendencies. (“YOU CAN’T JUST LET THEM HAVE THAT!!”)who is the baby tamer? (AKA who is the one that can calm the baby down with no problems whatsoever) Bowser, because years of experience.

I’m under the firm belief that Bowser most definitely raised at least Junior, so he has an easy edge over Mario with parenting. But, Mario’s pretty talented, so he’ll be able to learn and keep up as they go. Overall, I think they’d be pretty balanced with one another!

[Eternally Never Yours] Question #2 and 3

Hooray, more! Hopefully, I can contain my answers this time.

2: What scene did you first put down?

Well, the absolute first was Bowser’s love letter to Mario, which was originally going to be a one-shot. I even left it on its own for the first five months of its original posting, because I was busy with my life at the time and figured that no one would really be too interested in my work.

However, I received at least one request to follow that up with a response from Mario, and once I found free time, it got me thinking. So, then I wrote up Mario’s secret love letter to Bowser, with the added twist of having Luigi almost finding out about it.

Then, I asked if anyone wanted a story to come from that, got at least one response wanting it, and gave it a shot, with plans to just have Mario and Bowser confess, date, and spill the beans to everyone. By the time I had Mario’s confession written, I thought, “Wait, that’s good, but it would be too easy if they just told everyone right away. And if everyone was immediately going to accept that, because they totally wouldn’t. So…act and react…ok, let’s do this.”

And that led to the nightmarishly long story that’s currently underway today! Granted, I have written some scenes for the later end of the story by this point, but for the first five chapters, they came as they were. Once upon a time, I was planning on this story being much shorter than it’s become, but I’m pretty happy that it evolved into something greater. There’s not a lot of Bowsario content out there, so it’s nice to put it up.

The next question is deathly long winded, so that goes under the “Keep Reading” cut as well. Because, whoops, I’m indecisive. Surprise!

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

Good lord, what do I even pick? And narration, not even snappy one liners from a character? Or the love letters? Or my beloved Author’s Notes? Oomph.

Ok, they’re not my all-time favorites, but I’ve got the earlier chapters in mind, and I loved it whenever Bowser had a panic attack around Mario, and Mario’s mental decision to finally confess his love to Bowser. Those were fun in the early days.

It’s also terrible that I keep thinking of any moment where Bowser and Mario are together, because that’s such a typical response for a romance story. But it is true, I absolutely love the moments when they’re together and getting mushy with each other. And there’s a few different ways to experiment with that too, so it’s typically interesting.

Well, I don’t know if it’s my favorite, but I keep thinking of Chapter 12, when Bowser is first caught by Junior, and it’s hilarious. And he’s so flustered with Junior being there, holding Mario affectionately instead of threateningly, and all of the wrong thoughts keep crashing into his mind, and it’s so delightful in my sinister and twisted sense.

But what I love is how it progresses in the chapter, and it goes from this lighthearted silliness of Bowser failing to handle his son’s initial discovery of his relationship, to this deeper complexity that starts when Bowser literally roars at Junior in his pent up frustration. He catches too late that he hurt his son, and then later, not only questions if he can comfort Junior, but also recalls painful memories about the disconnect Bowser had with his own father. It’s sort of this typical “sins of our fathers” type of scenario, but I love that Bowser tries so desperately to turn that around. And it’s because it hits him when he thinks about it, just how much his own father rejected him, and Bowser refuses to give that to Junior.

After that, it surfaces again in Chapter 17, after Junior finds out, and after Bowser has hit his lowest for the first time, there’s this heavy inadequacy that the Koopa King feels. And he’s literally at not his infuriated son’s mercy, but that of his heartbroken son, and it breaks him, especially after the stuff from the earlier chapter. So it’s really great, because that was strong character development for Bowser through both dialogue and narration. And it led to a strong turning point for Junior as well, so that turned out nicely.

So, maybe that could be my favorite, but I’m not totally sure. There are others that I liked too. The following chapters, 18 and 19, I enjoyed writing the content for those. 19 was so much fun, because it was a fighting chapter, and I love it when lots of characters fight in a story. I’m not the best at it, but it’s exciting when it’s fast paced and in the moment. Present tense shifts fit so well for those. And, 18, I have this dark joy in Mario’s horror, where he finally sees the destruction that he and his friends cause. It doesn’t take over the chapter, but he and Daisy get led from the start of Seaside, and they don’t get to rush through each segment of the level. Mario has to actually follow his friends through their path of carnage, and for perhaps the first time, Mario has to actually stare at Bowser’s fallen forces, at the enemies that his friends had slaughtered.

And it’s not pretty, by any means, it’s brutal and painful, and I loved that because it made me feel uncomfortable writing it. Forcing that feeling onto myself, it was easy to project into Mario, and it was, hopefully, not lost on the readers, as you slowly go through that truly eye opening moment. Like, those silly youtube “what if” videos go through Mario’s “destructive tendencies,” but they typically treat it with Mario acting as a homicidal maniac. In that chapter that I wrote, Mario genuinely had that hit him, and he wasn’t in this murderous state of mind, because he was inactive for a good portion of the chapter. It wasn’t blissful chaos, it was enlightened horror, and that was great too.

So, now I know why romance writers will be all, “my favorite moment was when they kissed, lol, cuties!” Because if you don’t, you sound like an absolute monster. But that also felt good, because I didn’t default to the romantic stuff that I really do love writing.

But, if I can allow myself to pick one of those moments, the mushy moments that I love a lot, I’d go with the ultra cliché Chapter 23. It’s where Bowser tries to win back Mario’s heart, and when Mario finally reads the letters. Now, it’s not so much for the character development as it is the actions. I really love writing up fighting sequences, and those are where I can go free with the character’s physical movements, but in Chapter 23, it hits on the slower, but equally effective actions. Bowser’s nervousness about moving around Mario’s room while he sleeps, and then into his reactions while reading the letter, those were wonderful to work with.

And I have this one, really bitter line that Mario lays out right at the beginning of his segment, where he’s all, “This morning, I was awoken by the pleasant sound of my door slamming.” And I just love that line, it’s great, because it catches Mario’s sarcasm that hides behind his outward positive attitude that he gives to the Mushroom Kingdom. You read “morning,” “pleasant,” and then “door slamming,” and it’s like, “Wait, what? Did he really?” I love that.

Of course, I need to mention one mush moment, and I’ll pick the super mushy sequence of Mario reading Bowser’s letters. It’s fun because Bowser’s still anxious, and he’s constantly looking between Mario and the letters that he dumped all over the plumber, and Mario’s reading through them and softens up to Bowser again as he goes. It’s so much fun writing Bowser’s awkwardness, but I really enjoy the passion that shines out with Mario’s narration. Like, he catches Bowser being all flustered and blushing, but then he has the moments where Mario shares how he stops and realizes the lengths Bowser keeps going for him. It’s cute, and I can’t. And then, of course, they have sweet teasing moments before kissing, and I’m gone by that point. Like, if you’re questioning my shipper trash moments, literally just read where Bowser and Mario have any fluffy moments, and they’re all in each other’s business. Like, it’s not just, “And I looked passionately into his watery blue eyes,” or something silly like that. I go further, with them constantly touching each other, and they have to look at each other too, but then they’re kissing, or cuddling, or whatever other sap I can dish out.

Anyway, I’m not sure if those are or will be my absolute favorites, because I’m in love with everything going on at Star Hill right now. Like, writing the sarcastic moments Bowser has with Merlon, even the non-verbal stuff, it’s so much fun. The woes of incomplete stories, alas. So, maybe I’ll revisit this when the story is complete, but until then, this should suffice.
