do you have any wlw avatar ships... besides korrasami and rangshi i mean (I love them but I need rarepairs to breathe)
Well anon, youâre in luck, because I do have several other wlw Avatar Legends ships (several of them rarepairs) that Iâd be happy to talk about! :)
AtLA ships:
- Sukitara is my top Katara rarepair lol. Itâs mainly bc Iâm writing them as a side couple in The Avatar and the Fire Prince. It started off with me wanting Katara to give a female love interest, and I considered both Katoph and Azutara as options, but it felt like Suki was the person who would naturally fit the best with her. I was always sad that they barely had any interactions in the OG show, and itâs been so much fun to write them becoming friends and getting close in this AU. Suki is the first female friend Katara makes, and sheâs one who matches her wavelength. Theyâre both skilled warriors, and Suki helps Katara see that itâs not abnormal for women to fight too. Theyâre just really sweet together!
- I already mentioned Katoph above, but I really do love this ship too! They butt heads a lot, but they do both care about each other deeply, and I think the idea of Toph softening around Katara is so so sweet and cute. There have been times where I kinda wished Iâd gone the Katoph route in The Avatar and the Fire Prince, but I think their different maturity levels kinda hold them back at this point in their lives and it wouldnât quite work the way Iâd want it to if I tried to go that route at this point in the story. I mainly like the idea of Katoph getting together when theyâre older, like late teens or twenties.
- Small mention for Azutara - I do think this is a ship that could work if one were to write Azulaâs redemption arc carefully enough. I love the idea of Katara not taking shit from Azula and this being something that both bothers the heck out of her and intrigues her. I honestly get major Catradora vibes from Azutara as a ship, which is one of the reasons I like it.
- Moving on from the Katara ships (lol), I do really like Tyzula, mainly bc theyâre pretty similar to Zukaang haha. We see in the show that deep down Azula really does care about her deeply and feels really bad when she makes her cry at the Ember Island party. I always loved that because itâs one of the few moments we see Azula being more human and allowing herself to admit she was wrong and actually apologize. I also got the vibe that Azula was MAJORLY jealous of the boys who were fawning over Ty Lee. And I personally cannot see Azula ever being with a man, as evidenced by the very weird and awkward interaction she had with that guy at the party. ALSO I adore when Ty Lee pretends to be a dude flirting with Azula. Tyzula is peak IMO.
- Mailee is also another ship I like because of its similarities to Zukaang lol. They both have a strong bond that we see when Mai betrays Azula first, leading Ty Lee to betray her next. Their friendship is so wholesome too, I loveeeeed their sweet moment at the end of Ashes of fhe Academy.
- However⌠all that being said⌠I do really like Maizulee as a ship! Both Mai and Ty Lee are Azulaâs closest friends and I think that she values and loves them both deeply, as evidenced by how much she was hurt by their betrayal of her at The Boiling Rock and how that was what led to the deterioration of her mental state. Iâm honestly contemplating whether I wanna go a Maizulee route with The Avatar and the Fire Prince, or just a Tyzula route. I honestly donât think that Maizula by themselves work very well - I feel like Ty Lee has to be there for there to be a balance lol. I also have like the idea of Mai as being aroace, which I may go with in the fic as well. Iâve kinda been getting those vibes from her ever since she and Zuko canonically broke up in the comics, and I adored her little personal, romance-free arc in Ashes of the Academy. But I also like the idea of her being a lesbian lol. Weâll see what happens!
(Also, side note: Polytrix from KPDH is just Maizulee in a trench coat lol)

SHIT I canât believe I completely forgot about Tophzula!!! I adore this ship. Theyâd be so chaotic together and theyâd drive Zuko up the wall lmao. Theyâd fight a lot but also be obsessed with each other.
LoK ships:
- My main other wlw ship aside from Korrasami is Kyalin. I know we never even saw them interact in the show (rip) but they would be SO good together (and maybe I think that bc I like Katoph lol). I like the idea of Kya and Lin connecting after the end of the show and Kya helping Lin open up and chill out. Theyâre pretty opposite, but I think they compliment each other well.
- I also think that Korpal (Korra x Opal) is a cute ship in concept, bc I think they had chemistry in that scene where Korra teaches her airbending. And I really like how headstrong Opal becomes in Book 4, and I think she and Korra are on a much more similar wavelength in a lot of that season than Opal and Bolin are (even tho I love Bopal).
Chronicles of the Avatar ships:
- I donât think I really have any wlw ships from the Chronicles of the Avatar novels aside from Heituat (Hei-Ran x Atuat). Thatâs a peak old woman yuri ship right there IMO.
