Anyone else is wondering what happened to Keyleths parents? We have been in Zephra for a while, Kiki traveled with BHs, Orym is on the team, but they have not been mentioned at all. If they died I am pretty sure it would be told, considering it would pile so much more grief on Keyleths shoulders. So where are they? We know Vilya is also capable of using trees for travel, so are they used as envoys to coordinate with other Ashari tribes and various allies? I wanna know!

Critical Rewatch, Episode 45 - Keyleth

God, Keyleth’s convo in this episode where she talks about how she’s going to outlive every single member of the party?

“Even if we somehow make it through this, and I complete my Aramente - I’ll still watch all of you die.”

Can you imagine that? How that must feel? Keyleth has this knowledge weighing on her, all the time: even if everything goes impossibly well, she still loses everything. And she’s so young! Before Vox Machina, all she really knew was Zephra. And now she has this chosen family, and she knows one day she won’t have them anymore. 

Which is why I’m so thankful she gets to see a) survivors at Pyrah, including Cerkonos, and b) her father. Days after the invasion, in the midst of her self-doubt and worry and fear, and revisiting that terrible knowledge of her lifespan, Keyleth can relax for half a moment in the knowledge that her father is alive and well. Pure and Blessed Content, tbh.

Korren asks how her Aramente is going, Vex immediately: “She’s kicking ass!” Vox Machina is always 100% ready to Back Up Their Girl, Don’t Test Them!

“Daddy?” “Yes?” “...it’s good to see you again, Father.” Honestly, I feel like this is a perfect illustration of their relationship? In Keyleth’s original backstory she talks about how once her talents were discovered she kind of lost the rest of her childhood to training. And then she was pushed out into the world to learn on her own. So her relationship with her father straddles this awkward line, of child-and-dad, and father-and-dutiful-daughter, which is interesting. Keyleth doesn’t always know how to deal with a parent who sent her out on her own - as part of the tradition, sure, but it still would’ve been terrifying.
