Thank you for the ask and just support in general!
Before going into this, what sets apart the aides from other sprites like them is that they would be given special instructions by their guardians. For example, when Christmas was coming up, Jim would help with the delivering process and be on a lookout all night for stray darkness minions. If their guardian wanted them to give a particular child special attention, let's say if the child seemed to be growing out of their belief on them, the aide can help prevent that. In addition, their abilities are enhanced so that they can influence humans directly. Hiccup is a curiosity Sprite, so by just being there, a child would be curious about whatever becomes the object of their attention. A regular sprite would have to go inside the child and touch their heart to influence them. Sprites can help a child develop their personality growing up.
For combat, it varies from Sprite to Sprite.
Jack's powers are elemental-based so his attacked are heavily influenced by cold, snow, ice, and the winds.
Astrid can't do that, but with Toothiana as her guardian, she can fly and her speed accelerates to that point that an enemy couldn't see her until she lands a blow. When she's in her winged form, her sense sharpens too. That's why she trains a lot to keep her instincts precise and accurate even while accelerated.
Jim, like Astrid, also relies on weapons. While his guardian uses swords though, he's more of a range user using either pistols or bow and arrows. But the weight of his attacks land as if they were heavy melee damage. He uses his inventions to give him an advantage too. His hits are, more often that not, critical but the more accurate it is, the more it takes out of him as he has to use his enhanced sight to make the shot.
Dimitri is similar to Jack, instead of elemental though, he has a degree of manipulation over darkness but he doesn't do this unless he's with a guardian or one of the aides as he might succumb to it. Similar to who was his previous guardian, he can wield a scythe. Even without it, he can do close combat with his hands only and the impact of the force when he hits is the same strength as when he uses darkness. He can also control a darkness minion temporarily, dazing and confusing them while his companions take it out. He can only do this for one minion at a time though.
Hiccup is versatile and can handle both close ranged and ranged combat, For close combat, he uses a flaming sword he and Jim worked together on making, his armor was crafted with Toothless's shredded scales. Aside from his sword, Toothless himself is a fire power. Although it consumes much energry when he does it, he can also merge together with his dragon but only for a brief time and after transformation the battle better be over or somebody has to be nearby because, more often than not, he'd fall unconscious.
Jamie usually avoids combat unless necessary. And when he does get into it, it's usually with the others and he prefers taking a support role; providing distractions, dazing them, confusing them. When he has to go for a direct blow though, his landing attacks are with a corporeal weapon he uses to "hit them" but doesn't actually hit them; since his specialty is illusion and imagination though, he can greatly affect his enemy's mental state to truly make them believe they were hit.
As for relationships... To begin with, literally (lol), all the guardians are impressed with their aides and that's why they're chosen. On record, all children they've influenced always ended up with successful upbringings, even ones that had rough home life or were orphans.
So of course, they all like them.
As their service prolonged, they gained a great level of appreciation for them each and it's reciprocated by their aides.
Hiccup gets along with Aster enough, although ever since Jack accidentally ruined Easter during one particularly bad snowstorm (H: C'mon Aster, it wasn't his fault, he was still learning how to handle his powers. A: Other Sprites with winter based abilities never had that problem before! H: Not everyone has the same problems!!), they try not to breach the subject of Jack to keep things peaceful. And the only way it keeps things peaceful when Jack does come up is when Aster teases him along with everyone about his crush. They easily bond over painting eggs and who can make the best painted one.
Sprites don't have families, but they are familiar to the concept as they watch over humans after all. Jim can describe his relationship with North in a similar way. He regrets sharing the story about how it seemed to be a common things for fathers of families to make lames jokes and now, North makes it a point to annoy his aide every time he gets the chance to with learning about these jokes. They have a system, of inventions they accept help with and inventions that are "No, don't even look at it; I know it looks exciting to touch and tweak, but it's mine. Don't touch."
Before Kozmotis got caught in the darkness, he and Dimitri had a companionable association in their content in silence, unless it was absolutely necessary to talk about important things. Like when handling nightmares while being careful not to get caught up in fears. In some rare occasions, Dimitri would bring up some encounters he's had with the other aides and it brings a smile (and even more rarely) a laugh out of both of them. It was actually Kozmotis who started pointing out Dimitri's fixation with the aide of the Wonder guardian. Dimitri helped Mother nature and the guardians plan a party for Kozmotis, before his downfall, to show their appreciation for the guardian's work on handling chaos.
Jamie and Sandy are like two peas in the pod, with one of the peas unable to make a sound. Then again, peas don't make sounds. He translates for him when Sandy's cryptic images are too difficult for the others to decipher. Jamie can makes dreams in color, but these types of dreams are usually harder to remember. Sandy's dream sand are the ones most children recall, even vaguely, after they wake up. Between themselves, they try figuring out how to combine their abilities to make truly vivid dreams that children would be able to remember every detail in it.
Astrid and Thiana find solace in each other, being the only lady of their respective group. They balance each other out; with Astrid being feisty, and Thiana being maternal. They call the rest of their respective companions "their boys." Of course, Thiana occasionally teases her with calling the aide of Dreams Astrid's "particularly special boy." Although guardians have no need to truly eat, they can still consume and have a sense of taste. She helps Astrid with her cooking since she is the one usually cooking for the other aides.
It is Kalia's discord. It's moderated by Otachie, Lilith, Juke and Kozmotis, last I checked. I don't think it's ever been marketed as official, but it is certainly the biggest one I've seen, at about 30 users. I've seen a good amount of things suggested in there implemented on the site, including the change log, so I wouldn't agree that it's not helpful. It's just not accessible the way the forums are.
I wouldn't trust anything that is moderated/ran by Lilith or Juke
