Emerald Herald
Redraw of an old piece! It’s, like, infinitely better.
The Emerald Herald, Shanalotte.
Finally finished! I painted this with a completely different workflow to my usual one - I’ve previously been painting values and then colouring them; in this case, I followed a more traditional method of laying down base colours, highlights, shadows and blending between them. I’m very happy with the results for clothing, less so for faces (but that’s just practice). It makes it much easier to play with subtle saturation shifts, which is a big help. It’s what made this vibrant sunlight look possible.
Stormbringer.
Painted in honour of the massive storm that came over yesterday and today. Also fiddling with environments.
@krita-foundation please help! This happens every time I try to draw. It started doing that before the update but back then it didn't do it all the time. The tablet works fine on all the other stuff and I've checked the mapping on it. Can you please help? I haven't been able to draw for months. - I love Krita abd what you do! Keep it up!
krita-foundation answered your question:I still can’t figure out how to save transparent...
First, turn off the background so you can see the transparency checkers. Then save as PNG, and check ‘save transparency’ in the export window.
but it doesn’t give me an option for that! it just has that “color for transparent” or whatever. :T
krita-foundation answered your question “Anyone using Krita:”
the water color brushes probably need to be unzipped in the resources folder. If it's a bundle file, you can use settings->manage resources, if a zip, use settings->manage resources->open resource folder, and extract the zip there.
Yea, thats not working. In both methods it wont let me select anything.

They are actually reacting against me saying 'this won't happen to Krita' because they think I am trying to turn Gimp's issue into self-advertisement, which wasn't the case. As you may know, many of Krita's users are just not that computer savvy, and when I deliver this news, I need to say that we are not affected... But eh, they decided to turn Krita into the 'mean girl' of those cheesy high-school films, and I don't think there's much I can do about that, so I'll leave them alone.
Oh god, I am so sorry they are attacking you now too. I mean, we can relativise it all we'd like, but you didn't deserve that :(
Oh my gosh! Hahahahaha! I didn’t think I’d get lashed out at, but I guess I should have expected it. Anyone whose got a temper that short and a chip on their shoulder that big, big enough to lash out at you guys for actually doing a really nice thing, would clearly target me too. Even though I’m a nobody from no where and not worth their time.
Don’t worry. I don’t care at all about this person’s opinion.
PS: I really like GIMP and Krita. I’m just so happy that Linux is getting the photo-editing and painting programs it deserves!
