Set after Broadchurch and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Hardy needs Hannah’s help to bring down the head of Europe’s largest crime ring. (Hardy x Hannah … I loved how humour was used by both of them to move the relationship along)

(Ten x Rose … the fourth story is where this series really takes off when they end up in 1963 … it took this from being really wonderful to amazingly brilliant … you also HAVE to read The Closed Verse)

(Dave Tiler x Rose … this is so heartbreakingly beautiful and I wish I could see all the photos that they take because they sound awesome … and this is another author that it was very difficult to choose one story … you should definitely go read every single story by this extremely talented author … they will all sweep you up into their worlds and you won’t want to leave until the very end)

(Emmet Carver x Rose … one of the very few Emmet stories and it’s brilliant … but once again so many stories to choose from)

Champagne and Sunshine by perfectlyrose

Lucie drags her best mate John to a friend’s wedding where he becomes enamored with one of the bridesmaids. It takes some heavy-handed matchmaking but when John and Rose finally meet sparks start flying. Perhaps this wedding will result in more than one happy ending. (Eight x Rose AU … I had to pick this one because it stars Lucie Miller … this brilliant author is the queen of short teasers that leave you wanting so much more … also read her ode to Leverage Watch It Burn)

Months after the trial ends, Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller are reunited in Broadchurch. The Former Detectives Club has a new (old) case on their hands to juggle along with the continuing effect of Danny’s murder and trial. (Hardy x Miller … a great post s2 story that could so plausibly be s3 and it’s one of the few remaining stories Rex has left us … I’m mourning the loss of the other brilliant stories that made my heart melt)

Evolution of a Scandal by rishidiams

John Smith’s life is turned upside down when stress at work finally hits a boiling point and his personal secretary suggests he hire a call girl for the night. He wasn’t expecting to meet someone like Belle du Jour, but nothing is ever simple when you’re the Prime Minister of the UK. A loose crossover with Secret Diary of a Call Girl. (Nine x Belle/Rose … so so SO many stories to choose from … I selected this one because I love how the relationship develops between them and how brilliantly Nine is captured … I really need to add that it is NSFW but that just gives the wrong connotation altogether but you’ll read what I mean)

Emmett finds a surprise under his desk. (Emmet Carver x Rose … so very very very NSFW but so very very very good … I feel a bit naughty picking this one … not because of the content but because this talented author has so many great stories you should read … however I re-read this one a LOT … but you should really read Reindeer Games)

(Ten x Rose AU … ok so this is a WIP but I love it so much that I had to rec it … and I’m really really really hoping RL will be kind and let this wonderful author continue writing it soon)

The part human Doctor struggles to make Rose see him how he sees himself, all while coming to terms with a new body, a new universe, no Tardis, and, oh yes, having to save the planet. #28 - Knocking on the wrong door AU aka The One with the Handcuffs (Ten x Rose AU … Lixi writes the most amazing short stories to prompts and occasionally they insist on being much longer like this one did … once again very difficult to choose one story … just go read them all)

The Sum of its Parts by lostinfic

Inspired by “(500) Days of Summer”, this goes back and forth between 2009, the year Hardy and Hannah met, 2011, the last year of their liaison before he disappeared from her life, and 2013, after the events of Broadchurch, when Hardy decides to find her again, hoping for a second chance and a better life.

This is the story of a good man straying, of an escort breaking her own rules and of finding light when you didn’t even know you were in the dark. It’s a series of encounters that may not amount to many hours, but the whole is bigger than the sum of its parts. (Hardy x Hannah … so very beautiful I’ve read it over and over again and I cry every time)

After the Battle of Canary Wharf, Rose is stuck in a parallel world, desperate to find a way back. It comes in a way she would never have expected, a way that might just change her life forever. (Doctor x Rose … this is a WIP but I’m addicted to it and I needs it to be finished and you needs to read it)

A Million Holes Poked in the Soul by nannyogg123 

This is Part One of the story - Alec Hardy’s weeks leading up to the Sandbrook case… Where Alec is planning on taking his daughter to a wedding, but life gets in the way. (AU as we don’t know much about life before Sandbrook) Part Two will focus on the Sandbrook case and how it rips Alec Hardy’s life apart. There is no Ellie Miller in his life yet, but there is Daisy… (Hardy x Miller series … I asked the author where to start because all of her stories are written in this verse and this is her recommendation … alternatively you can start with the first one she wrote which is A Better Way to Fall because they all reference each other and build on the overall story)

(Eleven x Rose series … this will be the ONLY Eleven story I’ll rec because this talented author made me love him even though I didn’t want to … I came for Tentoo and stayed for Eleven)

When Rose Tyler fled London and her life with Jimmy Stone for the small coastal town of Gallifrey, the last thing she wanted to do was make friends. Because making friends would endanger those around her, particularly with Jimmy involved. Anonymity is key, but when Rose meets Doctor John Smith and his four children, can she break her own rules? And will her dark past come back to haunt her? (Ten x Rose AU … I got so wrapped up in this story I couldn’t stop reading it and the kids are completely adorable)

She once promised him forever. What would happen if that promise was forgotten? Loosely based on the book/movie The Vow. (Tentoo x Rose … oh my timelordy goodness what our babies go through in this story … it really tested my ability not to harass an author to update faster)

Touching Wild Light by fadewithfury (aka foxmoon)

The Doctor couldn’t leave well enough alone after he heard the words “Bad Wolf” spoken by his former self. And when Rose appears before his eyes as he’s regenerating, he’s sure it’s a moment that will change the course of the entire universe. (Ten x Rose … extraordinarily beautiful but my heart broke so many times at the suffering they had to live through but the story is so worth the read)

Chase the Dark by fogsblue

After Mars, the Doctor misses something important. Instead, he reorganises his priorities. First: Get back Rose Tyler. Second: Find way to keep Rose Tyler. Forever. (Ten x Rose … our beloved Doctor makes some mistakes and keeps making them … I love how Rose goes about getting the Doctor to realise what he is doing)

World-famous rock legend the Doctor invites Rose Tyler, up-and-coming pop star, to be the opening act on his tenth world tour. (Ten x Rose AU series … leans heavily on elements from DW s2 but gives them a rock star spin … I love love love this series and I made a playlist from all the songs that are mentioned and I listen to it constantly)

When Edward tries to take the edge of his anxiety in a hotel bar, he meets a woman who gives him some…very different opportunities for stress relief. (Eight x Rose AU … NSFW this is the most romantic pick up in a bar scenario ever … and did I mention that it’s NSFW because I really need to mention that it is NSFW really really good NSFW too)
