Discounted mochi sweets: kuromitsu kinako dango (黒蜜きなこ団子)! Kinako, one of my favorite wagashi flavors, which is a sweet powder made from roasted soybeans (it tastes something like peanut butter, but sweeter and less nutty). Kuromitsu is usually called brown sugar syrup, but it can taste a bit molassesy. Anyway, this went surprisingly well with coffee as an afternoon snack—kinako has fusion appeal!
