Volume 33 showcases Layla from the Athena Sanatorium. For the AU, she/they and the Phantomhive household are dressed up as Japanese firefighters with Bard as the matoi holder wearing the traditional/ceremonial attire during the Edo Period together with Mey-rin (holding a fire axe) , Finnian, and Tanaka (on the ladder). The colour code, methinks, is fuchsia.
A gripping tale about Masque de Nightingale, a masked heel wrestler whose identity is unknown and who uses their prize money to make anonymous donations to medical facilities/ (Or not.) ...or something.
I find the English translator making use of the non-binary pronoun “their” referencing to Ada’s mysterious wrestler persona quite endearing.
Strawberry Jubilee is 15th Anniversary
What was the significance of strawberry 🍓 to the latest manga issue? Was it strawberry sauce on Finnian’s hands? It turned out to be blood as the Phantomhive household fought the young earl’s enemies on Chapter 180. I realised later that it means 15. Yana Toboso’s “Artworks 1” carries the image above left and the mangaka illustrated it for GFantasy’s 15th anniversary in April 2008. “Strawberry means ichigo in Japanese, hence 1 (ichi) and 5 (go).” From the German translation of the original Japanese:
“Da es aus vielen Elementen besteht, habe ich einen simpleren Zeichenstil (Anime) gewählt.”
(Since it has consisted of many elements, I have chosen a simpler drawing style {anime}.)
