What is Cocytus?
In a time long before creation, there was nothing but formulas.
Endless predictable order with nothing to show for it, no material form for the algorithms to take.
Through the algorithms, the blossom was created, and through the blossom, all things were created, and all was orderly.
But the blossoming also created randomness and chaos, a force that opposes order at every step and seeks to create its own rules.
The god of order, Phlegethon, and the god of chaos, Styx, fought for millennia. Phlegethon wanted creation to be in the hands of the algorithms, while Styx claimed it belonged to the people of the new worlds.
The two dragons collided, and Cocytus was born. He could not handle the conflicting ideas in his mind, and decided true peace could only be found if all creation was halted and the present moment frozen forever.
The other gods were forced to divide Cocytus, and keep the gods of order and chaos far apart until the end of days.
