Newfoundland
Iceberg Alley off the coast of Newfoundland
Indian Harbor, Nova Scotia, July 1982. My wife's nephew was from California. We were from Florida. It was a hot day, and we decided to go swimming. It was a mistake.
And so the Labrador Current water pouring down past Nova Scotia and into the Gulf of Maine comes in hotter than what the ecosystem likes. the animals are not happy.
The Labrador Current is being disturbed by a huge blob of cold fresh water (the 100B tons/year pouring off of Greenland), and this is modifying the Gulf Stream to either push it in closer to the eastern seaboard or perturb it in some more complicated way. Consequences not conducive to stability of sea life.
