Checked his schedule so he can talk him into staying. Wine and dine ready to deploy. Test the waters by introducing the possibility of the "friendly hangout" via the very masc and appropriate watching sports together. Most of all: Keep. That. Shit. Casual. Everything done today is totally normal and not a big deal and to prove it he will not change demeanor from normal flirting and teasing at all while trying to establish critical information like if Hollander is gay or making sure to convey that Ilya is not looking for or in possession of a girlfriend. If this goes well it could unlock more friendly hangouts and perhaps he can boil this frog into something legit. If not he'll be able to regroup without having done anything incriminating. Win-win.

Meanwhile Shane:

Ignore me if this is significant spoiler territory, but with you fleshing out the Axolotl's characterization and his role as Bill's attorney (in effect)...

So considering the Theraprism was a lot of medical abuse and not so much healing, I feel like it's safe to say that wasn't what the Axolotl wanted for Bill vs what he was willing to take as a plea deal with absolutely atrocious other options as a motivating factor. And then Bill escapes by telling a computer "The Axolotl gave me permission" and it possibly sending a confirmation request to said deity. Did the Axolotl basically get an opportunity to go "let's see where he's going with this" and free Bill from institutionalization to prove reformation was possible (in a way he knew would be much harder than Bill was expecting)? And - more importantly - did he get to play super dumb when officials showed up to tell him Bill escaped and it was definitely NOT an official request what the hell was he thinking signing off on that?!?

Because I think that would have been fun for him, tbh

Yeah, my headcanon is that the Axolotl was just ensuring Bill survived.

Like, TBOB states that not even Hell's willing to keep him. After getting Stanleyed, his only two options were the permadeath penalty or the insanity plea—and the Theraprism is the last & only forensic psychiatric hospital both willing to take & capable of containing Bill.

This is technically spoilers in that y'all haven't read it yet and it's kind of a big deal, but technically not spoilers in that y'all should've got to read this by now: when I posted Bill's conversation with the Ax in chapter 46, obviously TBOB hadn't come out yet. When I get up to editing chapter 46, that scene's gonna be heavily changed— Well, here, just have an excerpt

The Axolotl then goes on to explain that somewhere out there, there's a trial in absentia brewing over Bill to determine whether a soul that illegally reincarnated with all memories intact can have their cosmic karmic criminal records expunged the way a "properly" reincarnated soul would. This trial's gonna set new interdimensional legal precedents. It'll get nasty. The Axolotl's excited. He'll keep Bill updated.

Reverse unpopular ask meme: ok good thoughts about something that we all know how it sucks... how about Gadreel / that whole S9 arc?

ok but i actually really unironically like that arc!!! i think the execution flopped in the second half of the season obviously but i actually really like a lot of things about the first half of season nine.

like personally i dislike most of the bro conflict arcs but season nine is an exception because it's kind of like. it's a perfect pincer. like, forcing sam to be possessed by an angel against his will to save his life. it's a horrific thing to do and yet... there is no version of dean who could ever not do it. like everything dean is, everything he was twisted into by his life and their upbringing and his trauma... he can't not do it. and yet it is so horrible. dean is completely trapped. and of course he lies to sam about it. of course he blows up his relationship with cas. of course he isolates them in the bunker. he's just done the worst thing to sam. and he knows it. he knows it was wrong but he couldn't not do it.

like yeah later once gadreel is out and sam is actually mad at him, once dean has the mark, they have dean justifying himself. but in those first nine episodes? dean is in the vice. he's caught like a pinned insect. it's the perfect trap.

So my evil answer is not quite a “brought back” but I Really wish Jack had got to see Cas and Naomi interact, because I want him to see Cas look very uncomfortable and then ask what’s wrong and then force Cas to explain it to him <3

Otherwise I think like most angels would either be disgusted or indifferent towards Jack, given nephilim status (‘indifferent’ bc if not disgusted I think they wouldn’t care that much about Cas’s kid. Like I don’t think Jack would be all that interesting to Anna, for instance, even though she wouldn’t be disgusted), but I think Uriel would be really interesting because like, I’ve seen people suggest he’d really like Jack because of him being Lucifer’s son But. Jack’s existence is evidence that the Lucifer Uriel rebelled and killed his siblings for isn’t what Uriel thought he was, so I think he’d find meeting Jack like really upsetting, in a kind of interesting way.

I’d also like to think Balthazar would be a good uncle but I really don’t know how he’d feel like ideologically / re the whole “having been murdered by Jack’s adoptive dad”. The Cas traits in Jack would obviously appeal to him greatly though and I’d like to think they could end up with a good relationship.

I think I just saw someone vaguing your sarcastic reblog thing from a few days ago about how beards don't make Edward and Izzy hypermasc and pretending you genuinely argued that growing a beard in the 1700s is peak gnc behavior

Anyway I thought you would appreciate laughing at how they spent several paragraphs explaining how beards are "nonconforming but not in a gender way" and make people frightening / project criminal behavior so they don't interfere with being 'hypermasc" or whatever, while Stede is gender nonconforming "in a macaroni way" and clearly gay to everyone who lays eyes on him. (The actual points being made were not addressed. Presumably the French aristocrats and Edward's purple crop top couldn't be reached for comment on masculinity standards?)

Jim's diary entry in Episode 02: A Damned Man. The text was originally in English and Vico translated it themselves into Spanish! From Vico's interview with the nerdsandbeyond.com:

The only thing that I added was more Spanish, and David was like, “Love it, here for it.” A couple of the writers are Latiné, and my first language is Spanish, so I said if I ever feel angry, frustrated, scared, I want to express it in Spanish, right? Or when I’m writing the journal — originally that was in English. And I was like, “If I’m writing, I would be writing in Spanish.” So I translated the whole thing into Spanish. David was like, “Yeah, I love that. Let’s keep that going.”

They also have the classic spanish guitar theme going in the background. It's "day twenty-eight on the lam" and we get a peak into Jim's backstory and character, that the disguise has something to do with revenge, and MY FAVORITE: "sweating my proverbial balls off." Said in the most deadpan angry-frustrated voice imaginable.

The showrunners could have kept up the disguise gag a bit longer but it works SO MUCH better to have Lucius threatened with death and to complicate that character relationship early! I had a lot of fun with the whole storyline playing out so naturally and building up to other jokes. See also: Coming Nana! Coming for some cake!

Loving all the Tony posting. I saw the fringes of the MCU fandom and decided that was enough for me, but I still crack up every time I see "Tony Stark is bad because he's an evil capitalist billionaire" as if this matters in the fictional "good capitalists fix things" universe paid for by an evil mouse monopoly and the US military. 😆

Tony Stark is a funny disaster man who makes little robots and sasses villains and can be massively pathetic / tragic / in need of therapy whenever I want. Steve is dust.
