Small Wonder tinies group pic

Here’s my current crew of six tinies!  

Standing, from left to right, we have Nico (Miyadoll Baby Mocha Bluebell), Sui (Volks Yo-SD Kanon), Laurie (Volks Yo-SD Anne Sweet Dream) and Iris (ASAI Murphy).  Seated are Peter (Volks Yo-SD Puff) on the left, and the yet-unnamed ASAI Mira head on a Pettimal short body, on the right.

(If I had put some thought into arranging them instead of just into dressing them, I would have put the white-skinned doll in the shadow, and the tan doll in the sunlight.... XD;;)

If you want to know where any of their things (wigs, clothes, etc.) are from, feel free to ask!  In the meantime, here are close-ups of the three most recent additions:

This yet-unnamed sweetie is an ASAI Mira head on a Pettimal short body.  I received her head in March 2019 and her body in November 2019.  Both parts are colour-matched to Volks fair.  Since my actual Volks dolls are well-yellowed, she’s almost the palest doll I have despite being “normal” skin.  

Iris is an ASAI Murphy on the matching ASAI 27.5cm body, in light tan.  She was pre-ordered and arrived after about a month, in August 2019.  Her skintone is really hard to photograph, but it’s a lovely, warm mid-tan in real life.  She is my tallest tiny at the moment.  

Nico (Nicolaus) arrived way back in November 2018, but I did give him a new face-up in July this year.  He’s a Miyadoll Baby Mocha Bluebell in cream white.   He recently got this new mohair wig, which I plan to trim a little so I don’t have to fluff the bangs up to keep them from falling into his eyes.  XD;

I have a Mia Smile Soo (boy) on the way, and I may be adding an ElementDoll Pitt C (boy) to the crew, too.  Till the next group pic!

Sewing for Iris (The lunarlake Murphy)! I don't know what it is about her exactly, but she is a delight to sew for. ^^

I tailored this ruffle-shoulder tee and jumper dress exactly for her (she is slightly  taller than Yo-SD), but I hope to make a few pieces to fit Yo-SD for sale later on! The bodice of the dress is lined in a jewel-toned teal, I enjoy looking at the inside of the dress almost as much as the outside. XD;

Iris being forced to model my inaugural (and possibly final) attempt at a sock sweater. Spoiler: it's not actually any easier than sewing from scratch, using regular fabric. I guess the upside to using a sock is that it's a convenient source of a small amount of knit material.

Little miss Iris

She looks like an older sister for the tinies in this wig and outfit~  

I am particularly fond of this new wig.  The fibre is unlike any of my other wigs - fine, soft, and drapey, with a natural level of shine.  It clumps together slightly (less than mohair, more so than regular fibre or faux mohair), making it easy to arrange, and reminds me of real children's hair.  (The wig is from “3-legged cat” (三脚猫) and the fibre type is apparently “milk fibre”.)

I made her sock sweater, dress and booties (there is a pattern for the latter on my resource page ^).  Her adorable hat is by monster, eyes from Toybar.

Here's Iris (ASAI Murphy) borrowing the Rinon body. I guess it's hard to tell from the photos, but the more petite body has definitely changed the presence she has~ She's more willowy, more delicate, now. I'm noticing that, even when the body is covered up, it makes a difference in the "feel" of the doll somehow, at least to me.

In the same vein, I'm not loving Shou on the taller body, even though it "worked" in my head for him to be taller. I will leave him on his original Yo-SD body for now, whilst I focus on selecting a new one for miss Iris.

Dolly rambles - face-ups, acquisitions

With the recent arrival of Asai Mira’s Pettimal body, I can’t put off giving her a face-up any longer...!  I’ve set this Sunday aside to get her (maybe his?) face done, and maybe do a temp one for new-girl (SDM Hewitt) while I'm at it.  For Mira, I'll be aiming for delicate and fresh-faced - similar to the sculptor’s own Mira, who made me fall for the sculpt in the first place.  I still find face-ups so time- and focus-consuming, I can't get anything else done for hours...

If the face-upping goes well, I want to take another group picture of all my dolls, short and tall together.

Also, I joined the pre-order for Stars Are Falling's (SAF) new Rin-SP head! He's billed as a 1/4 scale head, but with a head circumference of 18.5cm and eye size of 14/6 (significantly smaller than all my MSD's and very close to Roo, my 35cm tall MiniFee/Chibi Unoa hybrid), I'm hoping he will fit well on the Chibi Unoa body (SAF’s resin is supposed to match well with Alchemic Labo “fresh” skin) and make a good friend who can put up with Roo's, um, idiosyncrasies, shall we say.  (Right now, I'm thinking a mild-mannered bookworm with glasses~~)

I've pre-ordered one of Be With You's (BWY) new 35cm bodies in “normal” skin, and I plan to put Roo on it and give his current Chibi Unoa body to Rin.  The shapeliness of the Chibi Unoa body fits Roo better, but there’s a definitely colour difference with his pinky Fairyland resin, and I’m hoping the BWY will be at least a slightly better match.  It’s so exciting to have a new child-like body in this size range on the market!  I’m looking forward to testing it out and seeing it beside the Chibi Unoa.  I believe BWY dolls have some kind of fancy silicone posing aid in their joints, which will be a nice change from the Chibi Unoa (certainly not the best poser :P).

Beside Rin-SP and the BWY body, my only other incoming doll is Mia’s Smile Soo in her new normal skin, plus an experimental PLA body for it.  (If the PLA body doesn’t work out, I will get one from 2D Doll.)  Soo will be a shy, dark-haired boy of 2 or 3 - I’ve already arranged his wig and eyes.  I’m also eyeing the Kindergarten 1/6-scale head sculpt I linked in a previous post - for a sleepy boy, maybe girl, to nap with Laurie, my Yo-SD Anne Sweet Dream. ... These tinies multiply like flies >_>
