So in a story of mine I have this joke where a sexless deity starts using he/him because another deity called him a dick, as in jerk. (it was very called for but this isn't a lore post, its a linguistics post.)

Then I realized, that to my knowledge, this only works in english. the fantasy world this takes place in technically does not speak enlgish.

So I'm wondering how common gendered insults such as "dick" are in languages other than english. I have done some, and will do some more googling trying to find answers, but so far I have had zero results.

Are gendered insults a thing in other languages? if so, how common are they?

Small update

I’ve been using the toggl track app to make sure I stay on routine, which you can see in the screenshots. They’ve since updated the app style though. I highly recommend it! If you have a similar app that you like, please let me know! I’m interested in trying out a few styles. I’m glad my gym time could increase. I have to go at 5am or I can’t fit it in, so it was hard getting back on that schedule. Last month, I could take some Japanese Business lectures, and those were very helpful for me and my professional development. Language study includes Japanese and French and things from flashcards, workbook, reading, diary writing. You can add the subcategories on a diff page of the app. The new school year has started in Japan and I’ve got about 100 or more new little students to look forward to meeting as well as adapting to new vibes as homerooms of the other grades have shifted. I’m honestly a little disheartened for this semester. It will be my last. But that’s in a good way. If you’ve read my Japanese diaries, you know my struggle lol. I’ve been working hard and taking steps to open the next chapter of my life and career though.

With that, I’m hoping to get into grad school where I will pursue a degree in linguistic research. I made a new tumblr for my ling studies: Efuruling I’m a newb, for the most part. Though I am good at language, I don’t know technicalities and the “cool names” concepts get. If that’s something you’re interested in but have yet to get into it, be sure to check it out! I’ll basically be starting from the bottom. I only took two ling courses in undergrad. I plan to research about language acquisition but also want to make Black English a normal topic of discussion and concept, so I will focus on that as well. If you have some favorite lingblrs, give a shoutout and comment them below!

As for language,

I’m on a 232 day streak on Duolingo for French and have kept up with my diaries for both languages and N1 Vocab deck for Japanese (873/1750). I should be done with that deck by now, but I’ve been battling a lot lately. I’ve decided not to take the JLPT in July because they increased the price for “corona measures” and that just doesn’t make sense to me, plus I need to save money where I can.
