The car accident part 60

Lanie: pov I explain everything to Castle while Kate takes a short nap. I start unloading the books Kate got on to the table. The boys text me letting me know Tory got into the phone. I walk into the room to tell Kate, since she wants me to tell her if the phone was working. I carefully wake Kate, letting her know the boys got something.

Kate: pov lanie unplugs me from the monitors, Castle helps me out of bed and into the bathroom. Then back to bed so I can look up what the boys want me to. While I do that Lanie gives me my night time feed.

Lanie: pov I grab the bag of formula and hang it to the pole once that is done I flush the tube twice then hook it up to the tube and start the feed.

Kate: pov After a while I find out the phone belongs to Logan Reynolds 34, he lives on West 53 street, no family listed and his financials look clean, same with his phone statement. It looks like they all seem to stop on the same day which is probably the day he disappeared/died.

Lanie: pov once the formula bag is empty I unplug it and flush her tube twice.

Kate: pov I grab my phone so I can call Esposito.

Esposito: pov hey Ryan it's Kate calling she must have found something on the phone.

Kate: pov Hey Esposito can you and Ryan head to the guy's apartment tomorrow. Talk to his neighbors and talk with the landlord to see if he knows anything or when he last saw the guy.

Esposito: pov you got it.

Kate: pov i’m going to continue combing through his social media pages to see if anything sticks out to me.

Esposito: pov by, I will talk to you tomorrow.

Ryan: pov hey Esposito i’m going to head home spend some time with Jenny and the kids.

Esposito: pov i wish I could spend some time with Lanie but she is at the apartment with Kate helping Castle take care of her. Have a good night Ryan and safe travels, I'm going to stay a little longer get some stuff done before heading out.

Ryan: pov hey Jenny i’m sorry for being so late me and Esposito are dealing with a cold case, Kate is helping us from the apartment look stuff up.

Jenny: pov I was at the grocery store and the lobsters were a decent price so I made lobster Mac and cheese, Sarah Grace already ate some and she loved it. I already gave her a bath and put her to bed, I hope you don't mind.

Ryan: No, it's fine, thanks for the food. I’m going to eat and then shower, that way I can spend some time with you before bed.

Jenny: pov sounds good to me, I think the baby is up, I will go get him while you heat up your food.

Cassidy: pov I make sure Liv is comfortable before getting ready for bed. I brush my teeth and get in my pajamas.

Liv: pov Bri can you lay next to me in the bed in case I have a nightmare.

Cassidy: pov sure no problem I just don't want to be tangled in the cords or wires.

Castle: pov Kate it's getting late do you have to go to the bathroom before bed.

Kate: pov I can try plus I need to brush my teeth. Lanie unplugs me from the monitors so Castle can help me to the bathroom. After going to the bathroom, he helps hold me up so I can wash my hands and brush my teeth. Me and Lanie help change her into pajamas.

Lanie: pov once Kate is back in bed I hook her back up to the monitors. Jim wants to do the midnight feeding, which means I have to help him since he is still new at this. Martha also wants to do a feeding so she will get one tomorrow. Everyone is in bed and trying to sleep, Jim said he set an alarm so he can get up for her late night feed.

Jim: pov my phone is ringing, i quickly silence my alarm so it doesn't wake up Martha. I quietly head into Kate's room, Dr Parish has a light she turns on next to the bed that is just bright enough for you to see what you are doing but not wake Katie up. She grabs the supplies and quietly explains how to hang the formula bag and flush her tube. Dr Parish mentions how long it should take for the bag to empty, once that is done I can flush the tub and go back to bed.

In the morning

Liv: pov the nurse said my Dr should be making the rounds soon, which is exciting because I want to know if I can get out of here, Amanda is dropping Noah off at school for me. Brain stepped out of the room to head to the cafeteria and get some food, Fin is sitting with me at the moment.

Fin: pov I'm sitting with Liv, Brian should be back soon with our food. Liv is eating some soup the nurse got her. I'm just waiting for the Dr to come into her room so me and Brian can talk to him then I can head to work.

Esposito: pov on the way to work I grab some breakfast burritos for me and Ryan which we eat in the breakroom of the 12th precinct before heading out to Logan Reynolds apartment. Let's home someone has some information that can help us solve this cold case.

Cassidy: pov me and fin just spoke with Liv's Dr who says she can be released, we just have to sign the discharge papers and make sure she sees her therapist.

Lanie: pov Kate is still sleeping so I flush her tube twice then give Kate, her meds followed by the special formula, Castle is up and heading into the kitchen to make coffee and breakfast. To be continued. …………..

Noelle: pov Kate’s screaming woke me up, Lanie comes back out of the room saying Kate is asleep again. She helps Nick get the pullout sofa comfortable for me. Before they both head into the kitchen to quietly chat at the round kitchen table.

Lanie: pov I've been updating Kate’s Dr's, Castle and the boys about her. Nick has some questions about her health even though Kate told him a lot he still has questions.

Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov I Have a few questions I don't mean to bring up a traumatizing situation but after Kate was shot how long was she in the hospital.

Lanie: pov the surgery was a couple of hours a thoracotomy usually takes about 3 to 4 hours her surgery took longer because they were repairing the damage to her left inferior pulmonary vein and ventricle she also had a cardiac tamponade, she spent a week unconscious in the Cardiac ICU. With the trauma and the cardiac arrest it took her a while to wake up. She then spent about another 3 weeks in the hospital and 2 months at her dad's cabin. Once she was healed enough around 3 months later she had a special test that confirmed she had a heart condition. Once her medical leave was up she was able to return to the precinct. The first few days were scary and she was on desk duty, with a heart monitor. Once her Dr realized it was safe for her they gave her more freedom and she could go into the field.

Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov wow that must have been hard for her, i’m glad she is doing better. My other question is that she mentioned something about the results of her allergy test and it said she is allergic to pineapple and peanuts. Does she need to carry an epi- pen or will she be fine without it?

Lanie: pov due to her heart condition her Doctors aren't sure if she can use an epi-pen. It might not be safe for her. She carries benadryl benadryl with her in case of an emergency.

Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov It's getting late. I think we should start getting ready for bed. I’m sleeping on the other sofa and Lanie is sleeping next to Kate in bed in case something happens.

Ryan: pov Jenny is having a hard time getting comfortable tonight after dinner. Me and Jenny toured another hospital while Sarah Grace was at her grandparents. She is spending the night so we can have some alone time.. This hospital was so beautiful but i think we like the other one better because it's closer to the house and work. On the dresser I grab a tube of cream to spread on her stretch marks. I give her a back massage and foot rub.

Castle: pov I'm worried about Kate but talking to her made me feel better. It's late. I finish up my writing for the night and make My way to bed using my crutches just in case I need them. I'm actually doing pretty good walking on my injured foot a few more physical therapy classes and I should be done. My leg healed really quick and therapy has been going great. I know Kate has fears that something bad will happen to me, maybe it's because what happened to her was so bad. She thinks something awful might happen to me. I plug my phone in and brush my teeth before getting under the covers.

Kate/Stana: pov it must be morning because I can hear Lanie talking with Noelle and Nick. I take my pills and walk into the living room and sit next to Lanie on the sofa. She says it's time to access my pod which I'm not a fan of. Nick asks if he can watch in case he needs to do it.

Lanie: pov I have Kate lay on the bed and lift up her shirt a little so I can access her pod. I grab a vial and a syringe. I make sure there are no air bubbles before I inject it into her pod. Nick is now making breakfast before Noelle’s sister arrives. I get dressed for work while Kate gets dressed for the day. Nick is already dressed.

Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov I'm making oatmeal for everyone with fruit on the side and low sodium bacon for the rest of us. I'm not sure if Kate can eat it. Lanie, can you get the door? I think Noelle’s sister is here. Hi, you must be Noelle’s sister. My name is Greig, this is Stana, my wife and her friend Dr Lanie parish.

Monique: pov wow what a nice place you have here. Greig mentions they just moved in a few days ago. I notice a paper on the fridge about emergency phone numbers, closest hospitals and urgent cares. There is also a box on the floor with what looks like a defibrillator. I work in a hospital, that's how I know what it is. So Lanie, do you also work in a hospital? She says no, If you don't mind me asking where do you practice. She says at the morgue I'm a medical examiner. I work with dead bodies. Greig asks if I want regular or decaf coffee. Regular is fine, me and Stana are talking. I hear Greig say to Lanie can she have the bacon? It's low sodium, Lanie says yes it has half the sodium as the regular kind so a few pieces shouldn't hurt.

Kate/Stana: pov hey you both know I'm right here. They both apologize to me, Greig hands me my decaf coffee. Monique says I don't know how you drink decaf coffee. It's awful, you know what Monique I agree with you. I love coffee so much and now due to health reasons I can only drink Decaf. It is such a shame since I was so addicted to coffee. Kate/Stana: pov It's going to be hard for her as a single mother. My mom died when I was 19, Castle raised Alexis by himself and he also never knew his father. I know Noelle can do it, she just needs some help. Me and Nick head back into the living room where she is watching tv, hey Noelle, me and Greig need to talk to you about something. The both of us would like to take you shopping for the baby to buy a few things. She looks shocked and speechless, Noelle finally speaks saying that is so sweet and kind of you.

Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov I park the car in a front spot since Noelle is pregnant so we can park in the expectant mother parking space. I grab a shopping cart and push it into the store. First, let's head to the clearance section since this is Noelle’s first baby and me and Kate aren't parents. We don't know what she will need. There are a bunch of cute outfits on clearance to pick from. Since she is having a girl that's the section we are in. Noelle, why don't you buy a few different sizes since the outfits are so cheap. While Noelle is talking to the salesperson, me and Kate are chatting. Wow, it's a little warm in this store.

Kate/Stana: pov walking down another aisle Noelle is trying to pick out a pillow for feeding the baby. The employee is very helpful pointing out which brand is better. I just know this is going to take a while. It's kind of warm in this store for some reason. The next aisle has the bottles, wipes and diapers and a baby bathtub all of which she needs.

Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov it’s been awhile and the 3 of us are now looking at car seats, the employee is helping Noelle. I turn to look over at Kate and notice she doesn't look so good, her face is a little flushed. Lucky we are by the rocking chairs hey Stana you feeling okay because you look a little overheated. I managed to get her to sit down. She definitely looks a little hot, I think the store being a little warm is the issue. The employee with us named Mark asks if she is okay, I tell him that she has a heart condition and other health issues and how she might just be getting overheated because the store is a little warm. He says sorry about that, it broke earlier and the repair guy is trying to fix it as we speak. Mark disappears for a few minutes and returns with another employee who is carrying a cold water bottle, wet rag and a small fan which they turn towards Kate.

Mark baby store employee: pov let's point the fan towards her and put the wet rag on her neck it might help make her feel better. The guy who's name is Greig tells people to stand back and not crowd Stana; it might freak her out. After a few minutes she is starting to look better, Skylar the other employee is helping Noelle pick out a car seat while I stay near Greig and Stana. He says her numbers look okay, I guess that is a good thing.

Kate/Stana: pov Nick has the employee push the cart to the register while he helps me there. I'm definitely leaning on him. Noelle’s sister is buying her the crib. Once we are done shopping the same employee helps us take our bags to the car. Before we leave Nick calls Lanie and tells her what happened. The apartment isn't that far from the store.

Lanie: pov Esposito is working late trying to solve this case, I don't like Kate undercover it bothers me. I just got out of the bath. I had a long day, I got called to sign a death certificate but the woman had cuts on her tongue from biting down, which means someone could have killed her. I spoke to the husband and let him know what I found. It turns out she had a terminal illness and the cuts were normal. He even had photos from the last time they appeared, which made my job so much easier. Nick is calling me letting me know what happened in the store. I quickly pack a bag and let Esposito and Castle know what is going on. I just want to make sure she is okay.

Kate/Stana: pov back at the apartment me and nick are talking while we wait for Lanie he already brought the baby stuff inside. Nick I actually took care of a baby named Benny, Castle named him Cosmo until we could find his family since it was Thanksgiving he was kidnapped and held for Ransom so his mother could rig the lottery. I'm laying down in bed relaxing. Noelle is shouting that Lanie is here, Nick heads into the living to greet Lanie.

Lanie: pov I head into the bedroom where Kate is relaxing. I ask her how she is feeling. She says much better than before. I take her temperature which is normal, her vitals aren't bad. Hmm maybe the store was just hot or her earlier episode made her more susceptible. I call Castle on the phone so he can talk to her and make her feel better, I have Nick shut the light off that way if she falls asleep it won't be an issue. I head to the kitchen to get something to drink. Noelle looks asleep on the sofa. I'm quietly chatting with Nick. Castle texted me that Kate fell asleep. A while later I hear screaming coming from Kate’s room.

Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov Lanie mentions it's a nightmare that woke Kate up, Lanie is calming her down before it turns into something bad. She climbs in bed next to Kate and rubs her back in hopes it will calm her down, Lanie mentions after Kate was shot and had heart surgery she has these terrible dreams. To be continued. .....

Liv: pov all of us are in the breakroom talking and taking a few minute break. You know me Fin, Amanda and Carisi had an odd case a few years back a little girl was kidnapped, she was found in the back of a trunk we arrested a guy turns out he stole the car with the girl in the trunk from a store parking lot and had nothing to do with our case we eventually track down the cars new owner and arrested him at his house. While at his house we found a child sized shirt, Carisi adds that the backyard had a patch of different grass in one spot.

Fin: pov we tested the shirt for DNA and it didn't match our suspect it matched a missing kid. We originally assumed the weird patch of grass was because someone killed the missing kid whose DNA was on the shirt. But in a shocking turn of events the dead body. Who was a child, matched the DNA of our suspect's mother but not him so it wasn't a sibling of his. Turns out our suspect was the missing boy and this woman who claimed to be his mother kidnapped him after her son had an accident while she and her husband were arguing. And when Liv told her what she did was wrong she said she deserved another child because hers died and his mother was ill at the time and she could give him a better home instead.

Esposito: pov wow that is an awful story i can't believe you deal with this type of stuff every day. It's almost 7 and Liv tells us all to go home for dinner. Carisi tells Liv he has a male friend who is divorced and when the guy found out you were single he gave me his phone number to give to you, Liv says why did you tell him I'm single. I can hear Fin laughing behind Liv. She turns towards Fin and says I can give you the night shift if you keep it up. Fin suddenly gets really quiet. Liv shouts, you and Amanda need to stay out of my love life, it's none of your business. I have to go to the bathroom before we leave Fin.

Elliot: pov I walk up to Fin and ask what Liv means by Amanda needs to stay out of my love life. He mentions that Amanda said to Liv about you and her. Amanda said that her mom told her when she and Carisi were dating to get a hotel room. Implying to Liv that you and her should get a hotel room. Liv is still hurt from you ghosting her and Amanda just doesn't see it the same way Liv does. She moved on and dated other people, she loves you like family. Probably would kill for you but that is another story. Esposito is talking about how Lanie never gets sick the only times she takes off is for Kate. Fin and Liv leave the precinct together. Esposito is waiting for Lanie and Ryan already left to be with Jenny, his pregnant wife.

Castle: pov Esposito and Lanie are at the hospital Visiting Kate. Lanie is talking with Kate's Dr's while Jim is getting us food he said he needed to walk. He got back from hanging out with his friend a little while ago. A nurse is checking Kate's vitals, she is doing much better. Dr Jason and nurse Wendy appear in Kate's room to go over a few things he says if everything looks good by tomorrow morning she can go home but to take it easy for a day or two. This great news the nurse has some soup for Kate.

Jim: pov i’m back with the food Katie says if everything looks good I can go home tomorrow which is good news. Castle is talking about how much writing he has gotten done today. My day was great. My friend and I had a great time catching up. We might go see a baseball game tomorrow if he has the time. I already have the tickets for the game. Why is hospital food always not that good? The sandwiches are okay but not the best. Lanie said something about her and Esposito having a quiet night at home since Castle told her to go home, she does so much for Katie she deserves some alone time with Esposito.

Jenny: pov Ryan is finally home, tonight we have plans to set up some of the baby furniture after dinner. Fish sticks and Mac and cheese is for dinner with broccoli on the side. I bathe Sarah Grace while he cleans the kitchen. I have a bad habit of calling him Ryan instead of Kevin lol. I love bath time with her. I’m reading Sarah Grace a story while she is in the bath. Afterwards, I put her to bed. Esposito is coming over this weekend to help paint the baby's room. Nesting is insane. I cleaned the kitchen floor with an old toothbrush this morning. Once the crib is put together which looks very hard to do Ryan moves onto the stroller and pack n play while I try to put the bassinet together Ryan eventually winds up helping me by the end we are both exhausted. My hormones are all over the place and my back is sore from bending over while scrubbing the floor today.

Lanie: pov dinner was amazing and so is what we did in the bedroom, Esposito loves looking up weird positions online. I find it weird, it doesn't matter to me which way the furniture is placed in the room. All I care about is the fact that my back is going to hurt from moving the heavy dresser. I don't care if he is in bed or not, I'm tired and going to bed. It was his stupid choice to move the furniture around tonight.

Cassidy: pov it's late at night and, me and Liv are cuddling in bed Noah fell asleep a while ago. Liv is very excited about Taylor swift coming up she even bought beads to make friendship bracelets with Amanda Billie and Jessie which is so cute. To be continued. …….…….

Kate: pov I tell them about the time traveler, the psychic, the magician, the doggie case, bigfoot. Being trapped in a freezer, being handcuffed to Castle, the vampire and werewolf cases, the case with the baby. And a few other kid friendly cases. We have to get back to the booth to help Castle with the book signing.

Alexis: pov Lanie, Papa Jim and Kate are back, looks like someone got their face painted. My Dad and Kate both signed a bunch of autographs for fans. It's decided we are taking a break for lunch. Lanie says one of the booths has food. She saw the food when we walked by. It's healthy food. We all agree to have the fruit salad and veggie soup. Everyone picks a different flavor and grabs a water.

Dave: pov at the picnic table we sit down and eat our food. Mr Castle has a Dr's appointment tomorrow and they are trying to figure out who goes with him to it. Kate is still not cleared to drive. I throw everyone's trash away so the group can head back to the booth. After signing a few more things, Castle says it's time to go home.

Martha: pov back at the house Katherine is laying on the sofa. I'm in my room talking with a friend on the phone. Richard is ordering food for dinner.

Castle: pov the food I ordered looks amazing Kate is eating fish with vegetables while everyone else is having Chilli. The food is amazing, Kate says she doesn't like her food, it doesn't taste good. Alexis asks Kate and Lanie if they want to go in the pool with her and Dave after dinner.

Kate: pov me and Lanie put on our bathing suits and head outside to the pool Lanie is helping me snap my life jacket on. I didn't do my PT today so this should count. Lanie is in the water in front of me holding my hands while I do my Pt stuff which is rough. Alexis and Dave are sitting on the edge of the pool cheering me on as I swim to the other side of the pool, I have to be careful when I'm in the pool. My tummy feels funny.

Lanie: pov I can tell Kate is exhausted. She heads upstairs to shower and change into her pj's Alexis and Dave are now watching a movie on the sofa. Castle is in his office and Jim is upstairs reading. Kate is sitting on the sofa asking Alexis and Dave what they are watching he says no clue was channel changing Kate says she is going to bed she has a tummy ache it's only 8: 00. We did kinda get up early but that has not bothered her before. Kate, and Alexis are going with Castle to the Dr's appointment tomorrow.

Kate: pov I'm awoken to the sounds of my stomach not agreeing with me in the middle of the night. I run to the bathroom and throw up. I can hear Lanie getting up asking if I'm okay, I say my stomach doesn't feel good. She goes downstairs and grabs me a water bottle. I feel horrible, I can hear Lanie in the room. She reappears with the pillows and blankets from the bed and puts them on the floor. So I can lay down, she lays down next to me on the floor and rubs my back.

Lanie: pov I think Kate has food poisoning, this is going to be a long night. She gets sick a few times but eventually falls asleep for a bit.

Alexis: pov dad told me to tell Kate breakfast is ready, she and Lanie are not in bed neither is their bedding. The bathroom door is ajar. That is when I see Lanie sleeping on the floor near Kate. Lanie says late last night Kate was throwing up.

Jim: pov in the morning everyone is up and getting ready for the day. Alexis and Dave are making eggs and bacon for breakfast. Katie is now downstairs and heading toward the sofa in the living room. She doesn't look okay. I can hear Lanie in the bathroom looking for something. She asks Castle where the thermometer is because it's not in its usual place. Once she finds it she takes Katie's temperature and says it's a fever not too high. I can hear her on the phone talking to Dr Burkett.

Lanie: pov Kate is still taking antibiotics. Since it's a fever and her only other symptoms are vomiting and a stomach ache. Dr Burkett said to just give her tylenol and monitor her if her fever gets too high or she feels worse just take her to be seen. Jim is making her some broth, Martha and Alexis are taking Castle to his Dr's appointment. She threw up after taking her meds. I might have to give her the i v version. I give her some tylenol after she finishes eating which she throws up. Kate's main Drs are Dr Burkett her cardiologist, Dr Burke her therapist, her pulmonary Dr and her regular Dr. She sees Dr Burkett more than her regular Dr.

Kate: pov I kiss Castle goodbye and tell him I hope his appointment goes well. me and Lanie are going to head upstairs and watch a movie. Dad offers to watch an old movie on the TV downstairs with Dave. Lanie asks for my arm and I stupidly say why. She says an IV so I can give you your heart meds. I can tell it's bothering you. You're rubbing your chest. I get the choice between the back of my hand or arm. I choose the back of my hand. Once that is done I get comfortable, she also gives me a bag of fluids and iv tylenol.

Castle: pov the car ride to the Dr's is short Alexis signs me in while we wait. 5 minutes later my name is called. A nurse is checking my vitals and asking me how I'm feeling. I'm feeling good actually, my vitals seem fine. Dr Clark asks me a few questions and says he wants scans to see how everything is healing. Dr Clark says I see you didn't bring your wife today. she wanted to come but she was up all night throwing up and woke up with a fever this morning so she is at the house with Lanie relaxing.
