Alexis: pov Kate replies I just don't feel good. I tell her well we didn't eat breakfast could that be it, or is it a headache. She says that's not it, her heart feels funny. I'm starting to freak out a little since her ampstrip is going off, I tell Dave to go ask the receptionist to get a nurse or Dr. I ask her what type of funny. Is it arrhythmia or something else. She says arrhythmia and it's starting to hurt and I feel faint. That's when It dawns on her that she forgot to take her medicine in the rush to get out of the house.
Dave: pov excuse me but can I get a Dr or nurse my Girlfriends mother is not feeling good she has a heart condition.
Receptionist Tina: pov I will go get a nurse or Dr. I page up to the cardiology ward to see if we could get a Dr down to look at her.
Dr: Crane I head to the surgery waiting room. Tina from reception said a patient's family member wasn't feeling well and could I take a look to make sure they were okay since they have a heart condition. Having a loved one needing surgery is hard. I rush downstairs, In the surgery waiting room I notice the woman named Kate who Tina points out, she mentions the young girl is the woman's daughter and the boy is the daughter's boyfriend.
Alexis: pov a Dr shows up with a nurse and asks if everything is okay. I say my stepmom isn't feeling well. Dr Crane mentions he was told she has a heart condition. I say yes. She forgot to take her meds this morning, it was a rush to get out of the house and dad to the Er.
Dr: Crane I tell Suzanne the nurse she doesn't look too good, kind of looks faint to me. I ask Kate what type of heart condition she has.
Alexis: pov ventricular tachycardia. Everyone in the waiting room is staring at us. A few people look concerned.
Dr: Crane: pov I would like to listen to her heart. Can your stepmom lift up her shirt a little so I can take a listen. I'm sending nurse Suzanne to get some heart meds.
Alexis: pov I help Kate lift her shirt up enough so the Dr could listen to her heart. He notices her massive scar and asks if she has had surgery before. I say yes, emergency heart surgery. I also explain how she was recently injured while undercover.
Nurse Suzanne: pov i'm inserting an IV so she can be given some heart meds, they might make her sleepy since these are a strong dose.
Dr Crane: pov I'm concerned with her having previous heart surgery. Wow, her heart is beating very fast. I decided to listen to her lungs, I'm concerned because she isn't breathing right.
Kate: pov I feel awful, i'm dizzy and everything is pounding, I let Alexis do the talking for me.
Dr: Crane: pov that's some serious arrhythmia. How long has she had it for?
Alexis: pov Kate has had it for a few years, she got shot at a funeral.
Nurse Suzanne: pov did you say a funeral.
Kate: pov yes she did, it was my Captain's funeral. I'm a homicide captain out of the 12th precinct, I was a detective at the time.
Dr Crane: pov where exactly were you shot and was your heart condition a complication of the shooting.
Kate: pov sort of I was shot on the left side of my chest, I had severe chest trauma requiring emergency heart surgery. The bullet nicked my left pulmonary vein and left ventricle. They had to use the internal paddles on me and manually massage my heart. I suffered cardiac arrest and even flatlined.
Dr Crane: pov I send nurse Suzanne to go get some oxygen because I don't like how Kate is breathing right now. Since you have had previous heart surgery to be on the safe side I would like to run some tests. What are your symptoms?
Kate: pov I'm dizzy, feel faint and everything is pounding.
Dr Crane: pov Alexis mentions how Kate recently suffered a concussion and a severe vfib episode. Nurse Suzanne is back with the oxygen and a wheelchair so she can be moved to an exam room. I ask Alexis if Kate was placed on a heart rate restriction after she was injured, she says yes. Alexis also mentions Kate has PTSD. I ask if she is still on the heart rate restriction. She says yes. Alexis explains the rest of Kate's medical history to me.
Dave: pov I ask Alexis if she wants me to stay here in the surgery waiting room or follow them and the Dr to the exam room they are taking Kate to. She says follow us this is too much for me to handle alone. We walk down a short hallway and turn right into the exam room. The walls are a soft yellow color.
Alexis: pov since Dad is in surgery and Lanie isn't here, in case of an emergency I might have to make decisions for Kate and that is a very scary thought to think about. I'm trying to fill out some forms for Kate.
Esposito: pov I managed to get a hold of his brother named Ben who is coming down to the precinct so I can talk to him both of their parents are deceased.
Ryan: pov after looking over financials I have found nothing strange I'm now looking over his social media accounts I have found nothing so far that will help us with this case.
nurse Suzanne: pov we are now in an exam room. The Dr and Alexis are helping Kate onto the exam table. The oxygen seems to be helping. Let's hope the heart meds kick in. I put a pulse ox-meter on her finger, while he unbuttoned her shirt. Dr Crane hooks her up to a heart monitor. An ultrasound machine is being brought over for Kate. He checks her blood pressure, other vitals and draws some blood for testing. To be continued. ………..
