So I managed to sprout some lavender on my windowsill. To be honest I wasn't sure it would get this far...So now what? Help me gardening Tumblr please! I'm planting basil and rosemary with some trepidation..

Also, what properties does lavender have? I've heard it's good for friendship spells?

Vanilla Lavender Liqueur for Peace and Romance

The first liquor recipe is the most recent one I've made and the one that made me think that these would be great for magick. I love alcohol and I love tasty things, so making liqueurs is becoming a bit of a hobby of mine. Plus they make great little gifts for all of your boozy friends which is nice since I can't just drink all of this by myself.

So anyway this first one is made by infusing gin with three simple ingredients: Lavender, vanilla, and honey. While most liqueur recipes call for simple syrup, this one does not since the honey does the work.

I generally believe that when doing magick you either want to use herbs/stones/whatever with similar uses/correspondences or one with correspondences that bring together different aspects you want to be in the spell. I try to avoid just using every correspondence something has since that tends to leave me feeling unfocused. For example, lavender has many different correspondences from mental clarity to love as well as more spiritually based ones like divination. When you make this you can use what ever correspondences you want but if you want to make recipes based on the correspondence you are looking for then I most recommend this one for issues relating to peace and romantic love.

Recipe after the cut

On to the recipe! For this you will need:

A fifth (750 mL) of gin

an ounce of lavender flowers

a cup of honey

a split vanilla bean

First you want to split the vanilla bean and scrape the little bits out. They won't do anything to the flavor but they're small enough to get through the strainer and might add some unpleasant grit. Though honestly it's not a huge deal. Once that's done mix together in a large jar the entire fifth of gin, all of the lavender, all of the honey, and the vanilla bean. Stir it up a bit and make sure everything is evenly distributed. This is a good point to awaken the magickal essences of the lavender, vanilla, and honey. Close the jar and keep it in a dark cabinet for 3 to 5 days. Once it smells strongly of lavender (day 4 did it for me), strain out everything solid and give it a good stir to get the honey mixed back in as it will probably sink to the bottom. After that you should be left with a dark brown/purple-ish liqueur that you can use in just about any cocktail that uses gin or even just sip and ounce or two straight over some ice.

Again, with the lavender, vanilla, and honey this recipe is great for promoting inner peace, self-love, or softening the heart for romantic love.

Lavender Spring Clearing Spell I can’t recall the source but I have re-written parts and added partsl

Items needed:  Lavender, 2 white candles, candle holders, matches, candle snuffer if you can’t leave them burning, bowl, access to hot water, asperger tool (helps you to sprinkle water - you can make your own tool with small branches or flower stems).

Spring is a good time of year to go through your house, cleaning closets and ridding yourself of possessions that have outgrown their usefulness.

Bag all those items that can be recycled or given away.

Now, take several sprigs of lavender for purification and place them in a bowl in the center of your altar.

Light two white candles.

Run your fingers through the herb and say: “Lavender, lavender, bring us contentment.”

Repeat this until you feel your energy transfer to the herb. Pour one cup of boiling water over the enchanted sprigs, then cover the bowl as the herb steeps.

When it has cooled, strain it and sprinkle drops of the infusion over those areas you’ve cleaned out.

Sprinkle the infusion over your discarded items. Visualize your possessions bringing happiness and use to their new owners.
