Wallace and Winona are (probably?) supposed to be a foil for Ruby and Sapphire and an example of how their relationship could go if they don’t work out their respective issues (Sapphire’s insecurities and Ruby’s unwillingness to actually tell people what he’s doing and why), but ultimately I find myself more invested in how Wallace and Winona’s relationship is developing than the protags. Unlike Ruby and Sapphire, who get that sweet, sweet payoff in ORAS, we don’t really get any closure for Wallace and Winona and that’s a damn shame
In absence of any canon evidence, I have now decreed that Wallace is a bi king and starts dating Steven
“I am in no way offended” he says, dropping Ash like a sack of potatoes and completely ignoring Goh’s protests that now’s really not the best time.
Gotta love this man capitalizing on every second of screentime he gets.
The question is, will Ash be able to topple Leon, or if Leon will remain undefeated. (I'm leaning towards a changing of the guard, since they built up their similarities a fair bit.)
While it sucks Steven and Wallace are basically exes in the anime (Wallace just sounds so bitter lmao), at least it got off better than Perfectworldshipping, where Sycamore and Lysandre had never even met, despite it sounding like they'd be friends here too in an earlier Special, with Lysandre saying that the Professor needs to be protected.
I never really understood why Wallace was considered one of the worst Champions tbh, for a monotype user, I actually considered him stronger than Steven, at least until ORAS. (Where he had two Pokemon with Sturdy, ensuring that he'll get in a hit if you don't have something with Mold Breaker or a multi-hit move, and a Mega.)
Milotic and Tentacruel are pretty decent special walls, in a game where Grass and Electric both relied on your SpAtk, and chances are, unless you're a bit overleveled, one of them's gonna live a Thunderbolt and fire off a Toxic. (And Milotic carries recover to stall.) That said, at least Tentacruel has the weakness to Earthquake which the player would have probably taught their starter or some other heavy hitter on the team.
And then there's Ludicolo, only weak to Bug, Poison (pretty uncommon attacking moves in Gen3), and Flying (which kinda sucked back then. Your best bets were Drill Peck when you probably already have Swellow, or Fly, which is unreliable.) It has Double Team and Leech Seed for sustainability, and will spam the hell outta Double Team.
I don't feel he's a mono-user you can sweep with one Pokemon, like Lance. (Feraligatr with Ice Punch solos, his team is all Flying.)
While we've seen that shot of Lisia, we got a new image of Wallace via the anime's Twitter.

Edit: Ugh, missed one of the gifs in my initial upload, sorry. 💀
