you were taught to hate yourself when you needed love the most.
Ramble below, not fandom related unfortunately. If you’re here for CH, HTF, ENDPSTC or UT, please see the tags on my page
Due to current political situations, I feel obligated to mention that NO ONE, regardless of their beliefs or location deserves to die. Don’t take anything below the cut that way, please.
First things first. "Islamophobia" is not allowed here. I completely see the hypocrisy in a page talking against Islam saying no Islamophobia, but you can disagree with a religion and still not see people following it as evil. Ex Christians are allowed to criticize their former religion all the time, without people thinking they hate anyone Christian.
Intro:
Welcome to this-is-kafiromisia!
Inspired by blogs like @thisis-intersexism and @thisisexorsexism , this blog is dedicated to talk about kafiromisia.
What is kafiromisia?
Kafiromisia is a term that refers to the oppression of Ex-Muslims.
The term comes from the slur "kaafir," which is used against Ex-Muslims. The word means "disbeliever, infidel, apostate" etc.
Types of kafiromisia
Qur'anic kafiromisia: certain verses ("ayat") being kafiromisic by nature and it's weaponization. Some ayat include: Yunus 94-95, Al-Mulk 20, Bani Israil 97, Al-Anam 111, Al-Bayyina 6.
Hadithic kafiromisia: certain ahadith (sayings of the Prophet) being kafiromisic by nature and it's weaponization. Some ahadith include: Sahih Bukhari 3017, 6930, 7157.
Fatwa-related kafiromisia: certain fatawa (rulings on a point of Islamic law given by a qualified Islamic jurist in response to a question) being kafiromisic by nature and it's weaponization. Some fatawa include: Islam Q&A Fatwa no. 12406, 811, 14231, 696.
Subcategories of kafiromisia
Kafiroracism: the intersection of kafiromisia and racism. This can have subcategories like kafironoirism (anti-Blackness and kafiromisia), kafirosemitism (antisemitism and kafiromisia); or just be a word of its own.
Kafirosexism: the intersection of kafiromisia and sexism.
Kafiromisogyny: the intersection of kafiromisia and misogyny.
Kafiroableism: the intersection of kafiromisia and ableism. This can have subcategories like kafiroautimisia (anti-autistic ableism and kafiromisia), kafirosanism (sanism and kafiromisia); or just be a word of its own.
Kafirosizeism: the intersection of kafiromisia and sizeism.
Muslimonormativity: the idea that everyone should be Muslims.
Consequences of kafiromisia
In a state level, Ex-Muslims face death penalty and imprisonment. If an Ex-Muslim is a parent, they lose custody of their children. If an Ex-Muslim is married, they're separated from their partner(s). Ex-Muslim men cannot marry Muslim women. Ex-Muslim women may face forced sterilization. And vise versa.
In a public level; Ex-Muslims face social boycotts, isolation, domestic violence, sexual assault, bullying, verbal harassment, torture, honor killings, vice versa.

occasionally i'll be browsing the ex muslim tag on tiktok, you know, to find people like me, and i swear the amount of condescending mfers in there being like: "um actually all ex 'muslims' were never actual muslims lmao, learn more and then come talk to me haha" and there's this running joke among these groups of this scenario where they will be talking to an ex muslim and ask them: "how many rakaa in wuduu?" or "how many rakaa in [insert food name]?" and the ex muslim will be like: "um...two?" or something like that and i partially find these jokes extremely frustrating because they never actually show proof of this happening, it's just them making up this scenario for an AHA GOTCHA moment so they can insult an entire group of people and invalidate their experiences like tell me you never met an ex-muslim without telling me you never met an ex-muslim i also find it annoying because it comes with the expectation of someone who left the religion needing to prove they had a good reason for leaving by showing they know every single thing about it
and lastly i always wonder what they would make of me, i have been raised muslim, my dad is an imam, i have had loads of obscure things about islam drilled into my head through my father's violence for YEARS, i go to school in a muslim country so we have religious classes and tests on said religion, and they're here telling me that my experiences are not valid, i was never a real muslim to begin with and so my leaving the religion is a good enough reason for ridicule.
also can i just say the audacity they have to use the ex-muslim tag on their videos is insane, like not only are you wrong and your joke sucks, but you're also using this tag to reach the people you're making the insulting joke about?? get tf outta here with that shit.

"One need only study the doctrine of Islam—not merely as it existed in the 7th century, but as it exists today—and ask some very basic questions. What, for instance, is the penalty for apostasy? Interestingly, it isn’t spelled out in the Koran—there, apostates are merely promised their just deserts in hell—but it is made painfully clear in the hadith, and in the opinions of Muslim jurists and Muslim mobs everywhere. The year is 2013, and the penalty for apostasy, everywhere under Islam, is death. I have yet to meet an apologist for the religion, however evasive, who could lie about this fact with a straight face. Needless to say, I receive emails from former Muslims who are all too aware of what it means to be a former Muslim. Depending on where they live, these people run a real risk of being murdered, perhaps even by members of their own families, for having lost their faith." -- Sam Harris
10 years, 1400 years, nothing changes.
This past month i lost two of my closest friends which i have considered to be so close to my heart and for the first time in my life, i have truly understood the heartbreak that comes from ending a relationship with another human being whether it's platonic or romantic. As taylor swift has emphasized before, friendship breakups can be just as intense as romantic ones and it was until this month that i truly understood what she meant.
My friends or shall i say ex friends, challenged me amid a silly misunderstanding to bring out something that i bring into our friendship since they have to endure the looks of judgements and the outcast treatment for their association with me. An atheist, someone who doesn't believe in the abrahamic god (how dare she), someone who doesn't have a religion to guide them in this life, someone who lacks a moral compass, as they claim. In 2024 i made a pact with myself to STOP over explaining my stance. This includes but not limited to, my morals, my values, my beliefs or lack thereof, my identity, my whims, dreams...etc especially to someone who will never ever open their mind to accept a perspective or pov other the one their communities feed them regularly. Trying to humanize myself in a society that will forever paint atheists and non believers in a bad light since its beginning is a mistake and a waste of time, energy and my mental sanity.
For me, i thought friendship was about accepting the beautiful and ugly parts of your friends and seeing their imperfections as little quirks that just makes them who they are. I was wrong. I think this was a lesson for me to continue being a loner and never establish any deep relationship with muslims knowing they will drop you the moment they know who you truly are.
This is one of the many many beautiful things islam took away from me. The ability to make friends and connect with people. Because no matter what i do, i'm seen as a bad person who you shouldn't associate yourself with if you're a believer. I could lead you to the path of sin and disobedience. A path where you hypothetically question the absurdities that your community has fed u. A path where reason is put before faith.
Some people might say that i should stop victimizing myself and being a victim in every scenario since life is unfair for everyone and i should just stop bitching and moaning non stop. But aren't I a victim in a society where i know there are a hundred thousand people who would want me dead? Aren't I a victim in a society where the law prosecutes blasphemers for using our ''god'' given right to speak freely about the things that hurt us? Aren't I a victim for being named an abomination, a disgrace, a heathen? Aren't i a victim for facing hate crime? Aren't I a victim as a liberal ex muslim woman in a conservative islamic state?
Honestly, i rest my case. I no longer resist the loneliness the atheist path has brought me, not that it's my fault. But befriending muslims is a waste of time regardless of how open or liberal they say they are. Conservative societies are about maintaining status no matter how miserable everyone within these societies is. They shall all paint themselves as obedient straight godly people and can never stray away from that image. Any minor inconveniences that they commit can break that illusion even the ones that don't involve them at all like associating themselves with the supposed heathens. That association in itself takes away that fake status quo and ''god'' knows they can't live with that.
