Guess who’s back. I forgot some basic things I wanted to ask lol. Sorry if it’s a hassle (they hate to see me coming /j)
Same character, my baby boy (if I keep on doing asks we can call him Map), for refresher has leg length discrepancy because when he was a teenager he got bumped by a drunk driver and most of this left leg bones broke.
1. How does sleeping feel? I imagine it varies depending on what side is injured and pains. So like for him specifically would it be better to be on the right side or on the back etc.
2. Stupid question but I just want to ask, how does driving feel? Since you have to press on padels, would it hurt? Would driving long distances hurt? His wife normally drives when they go to their parents or family or just out but idk when he himself goes to work or when she’s gone on work trips.
3. I can’t believe I forgot to ask, how long can you stand. He cooks on good days. If it’s too strenuous either they order something, wifey cooks something basic, or maybe he cooks something basic or sits idk it’s not in depth.
I’m trying to think of more things to ask bc I don’t wanna send too maybe asks and be a bother. Alas I’m a forgetful human, so social anxiety has to get kicked in the ankles and y’all will see me with more asks later maybe. Thank you
1. How sleeping feels really depends on the type of pains. I sleep kind of curled up on my side but I think that's partly my scoliosis too. Any injuries or chronic post-injury pain that hurts with pressure will hurt if leaned on while sleeping. However, his pain might not be activated by pressure (mine wasn't until I started experiencing muscle weakness a few years ago). He might also move a lot or have trouble getting comfortable.
2. I don't drive but from my understanding it's the same as for abled drivers, since you control the pedals with one foot and can adjust the seat? I don't remember as a kid ever having trouble with things like bike riding, since I wasn't putting my body weight on my weaker leg. But again, mileage may vary.
Your character was injured in a car crash though--he might be hesitant to drive because of trauma rather than how it feels physically.
3. Again, this will really depend on the specifics of his injury and how it heals, how large of a length discrepancy, which aids he uses, etc. I always found it very uncomfortable to stand still since I was putting pressure/weight on awkward places, but walking around I was usually fine for an hour or two before things started hurting. A stool in the kitchen might be a good aid--he'll be counter height, but can take the weight off his leg.
