âBut I wonât miss you walking around in just your underwear in the morning,â Lilian joked, feeling an immense need to lighten the mood. âI thought I told you you werenât allowed to do that anymore. A house rule, remember?â
Travis laughed, grateful for the mood shift. âOh, the sacred house rules,â He exclaimed. âCover your poor eyes, Lil.â
Lilian laughed, shaking her head.
âItâs nothing you havenât seen before,â He continued, smirking. Lilian scoffed, still smiling.Â
âBesides,â Travis continued. âThis will probably be my last day in this house. I need to give you something to remember me for.âÂ
His words hit Lilian hard. This will probably be my last day in this house. He was leaving today? She blindly assumed sheâd have at least another full day with him there.Â
Looking over at him, laughing and happy, she couldnât take it. She wanted to hold onto the bad memories of him, so that his absence didnât hurt as much. She didnât want this lighthearted, joking Travis to be the one she remembers.
Suddenly overcome with emotion, Lilian got up from her chair and headed towards her bedroom. She couldnât take this anymore.Â
âLil?â Travis called after her. âWhatâs wrong?â
